For you folks fabricating your own davits you may want to use 3/4 inch Marine Grade Polyethylene instead of the starboard. It's stronger, doesn't yellow, and has some give. I've used this material on my SeaRay for 12 years. There's not a mark in my dinghy. Also, make sure you use 316 grade...
Trick Davits were developed on a SeaRay. The long cradles come off individually for easy storage. The load is at an angle, not straight up and down. There are rollers to assist loading.
Your SeaRay's beam is wide enough to put the 8'6" dinghy on the port side. The dinghy's motor would be closer to the port. Jim Trethewey-Trick Davit Systems
