Loss of Oil from Richie Compass

I called Ritchie and they had all the parts to fix mine in stock. I replaced the dome while I was at it. The new dome, O-ring for dome, O-ring for the fill screw, and diaphragm for the bottom were around 38 dollars delivered. Several places sell the parts but the prices were more than twice...

how the does the factory radar arch mount to a 1986 268 weekender?

The covers on the outside of the arch are removable. They have two philips screws that are tightened and then the holes are filled with resin. look at the surface and you will see two dimples where the screws are located. One good tap with a small flat screwdriver and mine popped open. Then...

    268 Sundancer

I have the 268 and love it. I agree that the extra width of a 270 is great, and if I could dry stack it I would trade mine in a heartbeat. However I live 100 miles from the gulf, and I would never want to make weekend trips on the interstate with a 10 foot wide load. I know people do it all...

    Radar system wanted

I have a raymarine R70RC plotter/radar with a pathfinder dome. Installed, used one time and had to take back off. I couldn't fit under the bridge at my local haunt. :( It's been sitting in the box ever since.

Is Armor All still an no no?

One problem with armor all is that it is really slippery on seats. Way back in the 70's I knew an old man that rode a full dress Harley. He made the mistake of putting armor all on the leather seat. The first corner at speed wasn't pretty.

About to buy a Boat and have questions

The optional generator for the 268 was mounted on the far port side just in front of the water heater. The water tank was moved to the bow under the very front cushion in the cabin. I have the twin 4.3's and it's nearly impossible to get to anything outboard of the engines. It would be nearly...

    No Arch...

I had to remove my arch to get under the bridge where I dock. I do miss the lights overhead, but the boat is much more open and lots more clearance when trailering. Kurt

    '88 268 & '92 270 da

One thing to pay close attention to is the arch where it is mounted. If it wasn't kept caulked around the mounts, water will get in and rot the wood brace that keeps the arch stable. I had to replace the wood on the starboard side arch support which is fairly easy but the side panel has to...

    Shifting Issues

The shift controls do wear out and tend to lock up with use. The last thing I saw on SRO was that the parts are no longer available to fix them, someone suggested the Bay or local salvage yards. The alternative is to replace the controller and probably the cables to match. If you can, try the...

    Florida Members?

Kaug23 checking in from Altamonte springs. My wife and I are out on the boat regularly. Usually over on the west coast, Tarpon/New Port Richie area, but also on the St. Johns. We did an overnighter to Hontoon park saturday, and will probably go again next weekend. Kurt
