I drilled out my starboard one the other day. Using a larger screw instead of a bolt worked perfectly. The light was actually not burned out, but water had been getting in there. I sprayed with some penetrant, and the light came on. Caulked it up good and all is well. Thinking of caulking...
I did all my zincs today. They really needed it. I could only find five per engine. Each side of the oil cooler. Each side of the heat exchanger. Didn't see any on the exhaust elbow.
Did you figure out how to get to your lights?
I tried mine, and the screws just turn in place also. I wouldn't mind going LED, but mine work, so I don't really want to create a problem. It seems that they are behind the compartments on each side in the bridge, but no way to get to the backing.
I have not had to change the lightbulbs on my side lights yet, but I just did the top two that make up the all around anchor light. My anchor light works, but the forward white running light does not. That light bulb lights in anchor mode, but not running mode. Must be the dash switch.

I fixed all of the leaks. The only issue was my drain holes were clogging, and when I re-drilled them, lots of water came out. But it wasn't leaking into the boat, so that is great. I did gluvit at the base, then a good amount of the sta-kool.
I have a 1988 415 with the Cats. Bought it with 1450 hours in February, and now I have 1550. Cruised across the Okeechobee Canal to Stuart, then Fort Lauderdale and a run to Bimini. I like to run at 1100 rpms. Any faster, and it doesn't seem like the bang is worth the buck. If the sea state...
This is the inside of the combing wall. You can see 2 bolt tops with a splurch of sealant of them.
So, as I said, I was thinking of pouring in Gluvit epoxy to just fill the entire base of the combing. It is not like I can really get at the bolts to take them out and clean them up.
Or, I...
So with regard to the leaks, I think what is happening is that water is getting inside of the hollow walls of the cockpit combing. And then it is leaking through the tops of the through bolts. It is not leaking along the edges of the base of the combing.
So, I was thinking of trying Gluv-it...
So I got the camera working by using a wifi extender. The extender is cool because it gives your boat its own personal wifi. The camera has IR lights, so the engine room can be completely dark. I can view from my cell phone or computer from any where and even do pan/tilt/zoom. I will put...
So I have had the boat for a couple of days. I found an awesome wifi camera that I can view with my cell phone. The only problem is that it does not want to connect to wifi while in the engine compartment. Do you think it would be ok to leave the engine compartment hatch in the salon open for...
I found all of the through bolts for the aft combing. I think it should be very possible to remove the nuts, and lift up the combing an inch or so to allow some good caulking around the through bolt areas.
I also have the aft window to deal with. Are there replacement window assemblies...
Regarding the leaks. I see the entire aft deck coaming. Do I try to lift up the entire thing and rebed it? Or do I just caulk around the base of it? Could there be a leak down the insides of the arch? There is also the frame of the two clear doors. Thoughts?
