I’ve been shopping for an easier to maintain smaller center console since June of last year after selling my big boat due to back problem. The market was absolutely nuts for center consoles. Hard to find good clean ones. In the rare instances where I did come across what I felt was a nice boat...
Sorry for the delayed response. Been out of commission these last few weeks with back surgery.
But the answer is no, I never came up with a solution and have been living with it.
That’s a great idea!
Here’s another one: use a 6” high density foam roller that you can buy in the paint Department at Home Depot. The lower the nap the better. I look for 1/4”.
Very little waste or splatter and I can do the smooth bottom of my 410 with a bit less than a gallon of paint.
Me too! It’s a constant battle. I’ve found that keeping a bottle of spray wax handy helps a lot if you get them right after it rains and before the sun bakes them in.
The spray wax will clean the streaks and still leave the surface protected as opposed to typical black streak removers which will...
Taking the drop curtain over the cockpit up and down every time I come and go to the boat with the cockpit table in place is a PIA, but the bigger pain is removing the Eisenglass panels on hot and humid days when the green flys are driving us nuts.
Also, for the way we boat, the idea of having...
That’s definitely on my mind. This one is dialed in and the next one would have to measure up to it with regards to condition. It was really hard to find a nice clean boat back in 2016 when we were searching for this one and I’m not looking forward to going through that again.
On the other hand...
The thought of selling my boat and getting something else has recently crossed my mind.
I really love the 410, but I’d like to get something with less canvas to deal with, and have even started to consider something like a Back Cove or similar style boat as a change.
I’m torn because I’m not...
I’ve done that in a smaller scale and it worked perfectly.
Another option that I helped a friend do:
He had about 40 gallons of 2 year old fuel to remove, we used a 12 volt electric pump and put it in a bunch of 5 gallon gas containers.
He brought one to the gas station with him every time he...
This is all very encouraging. Having some anxiety about balancing a dog and getting my boating time in and glad to see some are able to pull it off with bigger dogs.
I vacuum the boat frequently anyway, so I’m very willing to put up with the shedding.
Having grown up with a German Shepherd, I...
Thanks for the input guys! I’m going to take the wait and see approach, and if there is a problem I’m going to go with a foldable ramp like Tom and GFC posted. They look like good choices.
The port side of my boat sits about 14” from my fixed bulkhead.
Having him jump down on to the swim...
