westerbeke 7.0 BCG gas generator exhaust manifold

Thanks for the suggestions. I talked to Westerbeke yesterday and they said not to spend a dime on the genset if the compression is weak. They told me almost no parts for the engine portion are available and I should just buy a new one, $12k plus install!!!! Talk about being upside down in the...

pair of 1997 7.4's for sale

The 80 hours is only an estimate and probably padded so as not to need more time. I talked to Merrit Island and they said the entire deck must be removed to install the engines. Let's not forget about sea trial and repitching the props for more speed and horsepower. They said it's alot more...

pair of 1997 7.4's for sale

I talked my marina into selling me the engines for $13,600 each. Labor for the install is about $7,500. The boat's on the hard and the engines are ordered and paid for. They'll start the install when the engines arrive and bench run, next week. They figure 80 hours labor. Other yards...

pair of 1997 7.4's for sale

You can get 8.1's on EBay and my local marina can also. Merc calls them rebuilt but their really not. They come with a 3 year warranty on the complete engine, no limit on hours. As to the repower, I'm looking at going up the East coast again and have the money to repower so I want to do it...

pair of 1997 7.4's for sale

I'm repowering my 1997 370 EC with new 8.1's and have two running 7.4's for sale. The blocks have 880 and 920 hours on them and the rest of the engine parts have 1214 hours on them. The risers and manifolds were replaced last year as well as all the coolers which were custom built with zincs...

    tranny damper

I'm replacing a blown tranny and someone said make sure to replace the damper. Well, they're $420 plus shipping, not so cheap. How do you now if it needs replacing?

    blown transmission

I just ordered all mine thru Mr. Cool and for $30 more each, they are installing zincs in them. It's worth the money vs a motor or tranny.

    blown transmission

Nope, no warning. My systems monitor has no lights for the engines or transmissions. When I get the boat back, I'm going to change out all the coolers on both engines, that should be fun. My local marina says there is no way to tell when there going bad. I already replaced the oil cooler...

    blown transmission

While cruising Tampa Bay yesterday, my transmission oil cooler failed and all the fluid went out the cooler and the tranny self destructed. I have 7.4 ltrs. with straight Velvet Drives. Any body had to replace one of these and about how much $'s I'm looking at? I have a 97 370 EC which makes...

    miss behaven tachs

I need your help with a tach problem. I have a 97' 37 ec with 454's. Both tachs behave at idle but anything over 1200 rpm. they read erractically. Sometimes they both read exactly the wrong rpm and sometimes one will be right on and the other will be hundreds over. Then they may switch. New...

    390 Sedan/Bridge advice??

I had a 1985 390 with gassers for years. We used it on Lake Michigan and no problems with fuel or trim tabs. I traveled to northern Lake Huron many times in varying conditions, up to 6 foot seas. Not fun but not scary either. I had to replace both tranny's due to former owner and the new...

I tried to remove the 2 allen head bolts holding the chain pipe cover on. They appear to be corroded in place. Anybody have the same problem and what's the fix?
