We have a 2000 340 with the v-drive 7.4L's and everything that the previous posters has said is largely true. I am 6'2" and 235 lbs and fairly handy with a wrench yet we pay the marina to do almost everything; the access is just too limited. And if someone could tell me how to get to the...
Alex F-
Where is the access door you are referring to? On the port side of my boat, there doesn't appear to be any access to the underside of the dash. The top part of the dash appears to be a continuous piece of fiberglass from the windshield down to the cockpit sink and underneath in the...
Thanks for all the responses. I ultimately sent a note to Whale in the UK with pictures of the part I was trying to replace. They said that particular valve has been out of production for a number of years and there were no replacement parts available. Nothing is every easy on a boat!
So...
The cockpit faucet on my 2000 Sundancer 340 is leaking. This is the single valve "Whale" brand white faucet that is part of the sink on the port side of the cockpit. I disassembled the valve and it is readily apparent that the rubber sealing surface on the bottom of the plastic valve assembly is...
Stabil will stain so be careful
One caution on using Stabil on your boat...the Marine version (green stuff) will stain just about anything it comes in contact with. It will scrub off of the fiberglass fairly easily but if it gets on any of the vinyl upholstery, forget it.
So hypothetically...
Jackson - Unfortunately it wasn't the mirror, I checked it. I also tried putting pressure on the walls of the lavatory to see if that would affect the sound - no luck. The walls of the lavatory are surprisingly solid, there just isn't a lot of flex there.
I'm wondering if there is a stringer...
Ski Bum- Nope it's not the toilet seat, I was sitting on it while trying to diagnose the noise! Also not the microwave plate, that is too far forward. It sounds more like something directly underneath the dashboard rubbing against the underside. More like the fiberglass on fiberglass noise that...
RE: 2000 Sundancer 340 - 140 hours
We just took our new-to-us 2000 Sundancer 340 from Oriental, NC to Ocracoke, NC on the outer banks (our most ambitious trip to date). We were running about 10-15 kts in 3 ft seas and the boat was making a god-awful noise as it banged into each wave. Basically...
