Trim Tabs run down, but not up

Ok, I'll look again in the area behind the panel. I probably just missed it, not following the wires far enough.

Trim Tabs run down, but not up

Tom, Thanks for the info, I think I got it fixed. The troubleshooting info with wire colors helped a lot when I started jumping the leads to see whether the HPU and solenoids worked. I cleaned everything, checked all connections, and now it seems to work fine. I also spliced in a device to...

Trim Tabs run down, but not up

Great info! Thanks Tom. The only thing I might not have been clear enough about is that the fuse I keep blowing isn't anywhere in the trim system as far as I can tell. It's a 15amp fuse in a small four fuse pigtail that hangs off the top of the Mercruiser, and it first blew when I tried to...

Trim Tabs run down, but not up

I held the trim tab switch too long and blew the 15amp fuse on the engine pig tail. (Kills entire boat electrical system BTW.) This happens a lot, I can't tell when tabs are all the way up or down, and if I hold the switch for more than a second or two after reaching full travel the fuse will...

    Trim Tab killed electrical system?

Wow, this site is great! I'm glad I bought a Sea Ray. I can't believe all the info I can get just by asking a question. What an awesome community to join. Bucit - I can't give a good reason why I pressed both tabs at the same time, it just seemed like a good idea at the time. I was bumping...

    Trim Tab killed electrical system?

Ed, thanks for the great advice. The mechanic at the marina where the boat has lived it's whole life knew that the same problem occured last year to the original owner. The mechanic looked at a 15amp trim tab fuse in a small block of fuses apparently mounted on the distributer and found that...

    Trim Tab killed electrical system?

I just purchased a used 1999 240 Sundancer with a new (2010) Mercruiser 5.0 MPI. I took it out for the first time, and about 30 minutes into the drive I pressed both trim tab buttons at the same time. The engine immediately died, along with nearly the entire electrical system. :smt013(The bilge...

    Water remaining in engine compartment?

Thanks everyone, very useful info, very helpful site. Makes me more convinced that a Sea Ray is the right choice.

    Water remaining in engine compartment?

Thanks. Do I need to worry about water damage to the fiberglass if that water has stood there for a long time? (I don't know that it has, but it looks old. Is there a way to clean the engine compartment without damaging the engine or fiberglass?

    Water remaining in engine compartment?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Boat has lived it's whole life in a covered storage facility. I don't know if drain plug is normally removed. Also, its the 240 cruiser, not the 240 sundeck, I don't know if that makes any difference. Where is the bilge pump located? Under the engine...

    Water remaining in engine compartment?

Hello all, I'm currently close to buying a 1999 Sea Ray 240 SD. Very excited, boat seems to be in great shape, always kept in storage, repowered with a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI last year. My concern is that there is about a 1/2" of standing water in the bottom of the engine compartment...It's been...
