I am not clear on the function of the forward bilge pump. How would water enter that pump area? What would be the source of the water?

Can someone share how to find missing vanes in the line? Where do they typically end up? Or can the broken parts find there way out by themselves? Is there a filter screen at the trans-cooler so broken vane parts cannot enter?

nothing unusual, belts are fine. Oil, Temp and Battery gauges were normal. I am thinking alternator shorted out and blew and that was the burnt smell.

I need to replace my alternator. Mine is a part-number 862031, marine sae made in Korea. I see Walmart has them for $83. But I had one replaced a few years back on my other engine and the mechanic installed a Sierra for $275. I am confused on the pricing....is one better than the other?

Was out and running around 2500rpm, starboard engine just shut off, smelled something burnt. Drove in on 1 engine. Now engine cranks but won't fire. Batteries seem fine. Any idea's? someone told me could of been the alternator burning out and blowing the 90a fuse on the starter. Just not sure...
