Ok, the news is good. No permanent damage. Found the cause of the overheat... Impeller shaft was sheared so no spinny of the impeller on one engine and water line on the other crammed full of mussel shells, weird cause the strainers are intact and have no sign of debris. Anyhow I am replacing...

Just remembered we had a van that would run fine until it heated up. Turned out to be a hairline crack in the distributor that would expand with heat and cause erratic running issues or no start at all.
