Im going for my first oil change on the 5,7 mercruiser this weekend, and Im not at the boat now, so Im wondering if I will need a pump or is it possieble to get to the drain underneath the oilpan?
I found the transom ground buss, and the 10blk cable going to the control station bus bar. When I disconnected it, there was a slight dim in the lights but barely noticeable. I checked the engine harness plug, It was looking fine. Sprayed all contacts with electro cleaner and afterwards vaseline...
No, its the same problem:( I have been studying the wiring scematics now, and it seems there are two main ground wires, one going from the transom ground buss(which I havent located yet) to the "control station ground buss" (which I guess must be the one behind the dash with lots of black wires...
I am still having trouble with the electrical on my Sea Ray 215 EC 1996. The positive wire is fine, I measured just a slight voltage drop on the positive connection. However on the negative terminal on the main fuse panel behind the instrument panel, its only 11,3 volts under load, and 40 ohms...
Unfortunately I dont have storage compartments below the seats. That option wasnt on the 96 model year:(
i think I might go with the side storage area on port side. Just aft of the port speaker.
I agree with the last post regarding fumes. But is it safe to install the diesel heater astern so close to the engine? Is it possieble to get access to the compartment on the port side of the fuel tank? (Under the passenger seat? ) I think that might be a good location. Or underneath the porta...
Good idea. But then I will need a intake vent for fresh air. This vent has got to be 60mm. If I install the heater somewhere between the hull and inner liner in the cockpit, I won't need a intake vent because the canvas will let through enough air from the outside.
I have thought about a car heater that works off the engine, but I want a heater that works independently, when hangin around in the boat anchored or docked, and also underway. (In Norway the summers are cold like hell. :)
Could sound like a Ground failure or sending unit failure. I would try to insert a manual gauge on the engine just to check. The sending unit is located on the lower rear port side mostly.
