Hello All,
Hit a submerged object and destroyed a prop, propshaft, and bent the strut. The shaft still turns freely in the strut but the strut appears to have a cresent curve in it. I am assuming i will need to replace it. Already lined up the part for the job just waiting on insurance...
Last Run.
1988 300 weekender. Bought for $800 after being partially sunk on and off for close to 5 years. Bought originally for transmissions, air conditioner, and foward hatches. As a challenge because i was told i could not do it, i got the engines to fire and run. Gutted all engine bay...
Raw water cooled i dont why i put fwc.

Have not noticed any oil or transmission fluid loss. Had no issues before carbs were changed. Guess I will have to swap carb from side to side and see if problem is the carb first.
I have an 88 300 weekender with mercruiser 5.7s. Have recently replaced both carbs and now i have a sheen coming out of my starboard exhaust. Engine does not burn oil and i have not located any leaks. Im assuming this is fuel possibly from a leaking carb but they are brand new, Holley...
Did you use the one with the mechanical seal. The o-ring that stays in contact with the shaft? I was looking at the cheaper version for a project boat.
