I agree, but it takes much more than a new digital camera to get really good interior photos in a relatively low-light environment inside the cabin of a boat. I can hand most people $10k worth of camera/lense/lighting/etc. and they'll still produce a bad photo.
As a former professional photographer, who is currently window shopping boats, I am amazed at the complete lack of effort being made to show boats that are listed at $150k and up. I can understand it with a boat at the $5k-$10k price point, but at some point investing a couple hundred bucks to...
Thanks. I've found a handful of potential options there, but I recently learned we have a CSR forum member who has a 480 DB here in Cincinnati. Once I get back to the U.S., I'll contact them to see if they're willing to answer some questions and maybe trade a tour for some beer.
Thanks for suggesting this. I hadn't researched this option yet.
A boat club might be a good fit from a maintenance perspective, but it appears the closest one is 200 miles away. If we have to get in the airplane to go to the boat, I just don't see it being something we'll do much...
Thanks again. Im still researching/window shopping while waiting to see if the sale of my business closes...looks like perhaps early next month.
Pretty committed now to a sedan bridge. Trying to figure out if a 480 can be bought somewhere "near" my wife-imposed budget. If not, the 400 db's...
As a person who's considering buying a boat, but all I've been reading here is about maintenance issues people have with them, thanks for sharing this story!
Small correction though...that's a Lear 35, rather than a Citation.
125k seems like it could buy a pretty nice 1996-2001 400DB. One of our forum members has a 1996 listed for around $95k, I believe. Think it's in Maryland somewhere also.
Edit: found it...look for mjmason1. He's in Massachusetts.
Space to separate into smaller groups does appeal. I'm afraid to show my wife the photos of the cabins of the bridge boats. Maybe that should tell me something? :)
Looking at the bridge seating area on the 400db, it's a lot bigger than I initially thought it was.
Thanks for your...
I hadn't even considered a bridge boat. Thanks for your suggestion. Some of the 2000-vintage 400db might be worth researching.
I wonder if a bridge boat might be moving a little away from the social aspect of boating? Do you find guests tend to hang out in the salon, while the Captain gets...
Thanks again for your thoughts. I'm kinda thinking that the number and complexity of systems on a 410 aren't significantly greater than those on a 340...does this seem correct? Outside of the plumbing for the second restroom, and maybe a second AC unit, a 340 seems to me to be pretty much as...
Thanks all so far. I forgot to mention we also own a pretty complex airplane that has been out of production for about 30 years, so I'm familiar, and comfortable with maintenance and fixed costs.
I kind of feel like I'm going to need something to do while "relaxing". I just really don't know...
Hello all. Thanks to everyone who posts on the various forums here, I've been reading a lot over the last month or so. Continue at your own peril...this is going to be a long post.
I've wanted a boat for a long time, but couldn't justify the time or expense. Once about 10 years ago, a...
