I replaced the trans cooler so its no that, i will pull off hose today and see what drains out , but it could still be leaking from above ? you siad you changed the oil pump? or oil cooler ?

I just changed the water pump empellar and on start up there was grinding noise but just on start up but then goes away what have I done wrong???? and only on cold engine start up... after it runs for awhile it its fine...:smt021

i have the same problem, but have inboards, at idle or docking there is an oil slick behind the boat, I hear it could the engine oil cooler as well , check your dip stick to see if it is milky at all. If you had a bad trans cooler there might also be water in the trans I believe ,
I see it when I am idling at the dock or coming into the dock , and with this golf spill going on now everyone notices it. It only happens when running.
So you say it could be the engine oil cooler and that would be on the right side of the starboard engine would that cause it as well...

hey does any body have a easy way to replace a trans cooler it looks like a 4 advil job upside down.... I think it needs replacing as i have oil slick behind the boat at idle... would there be water in the transmission if there was a leak??:smt100
if there was fuel , would you see it in the carb when pushing your throttle up and down ? I will try your idea in the am, thanks. or if there is fuel in the filter can that still mean the pump needs replaceing
Having trouble starting engine, it started then stopped, now I see no fuel going into the carb, when I move the throttle up and down nothing, no fuel, I tried adding a little gas in the carb and it did almost start, any ideas, tanks are low and tried switching between tanks , starboard motor...
