    86 300 WE 17x17 props

I'm have searched and can't seem to find it but thought i had read that some have installed 17x17 props on their 300's with 5.7 motors. Have a possible deal on a pair of fresh documented props but was worried about the 17 being a little too big. Thanks

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I started to tackle sealing up some bow rail stanchions on my 85 Weekender and happened to start on the rear starboard one. Which looks like I will need to disassemble the lower potion of the console to get to the nuts on the backing plate as they just spin. Has someone gone through the same...

    Vernalift muffler repair

Going to repair one of my vernalift mufflers. Have tried in the past with just applying epoxy on and in the crack and it never held. Figured it was time to do it the correct way (hopefully) and apply a resin and glad over the whole cap. A guy at West Marine recommended vinylester and 1.5 oz...

impeller and housing after 4 hours

Let's see, first off I never negotiate price, their price is their price. My father had me working on our family car since 7th grade. I worked on F-15's for 10 years . part of that as an advisor to Saudi Arabia. I have worked on computers since 1980. So I am fully capable to work on my boat...

impeller and housing after 4 hours

I used silicon spray, I'll have to go read the label. I had thought about using soap. Hopefully it'll last a year. I'll replace them in the winter with the regular maintenance. Thanks for the note!!

impeller and housing after 4 hours

YES, as you have said! He did a pump kit and a thermostat. Did not run it up to test it after he finished but told me everything was complete ready to go. Three days later was heading out with wife for a weekend out on it and after starting noticed no water, bumped the throttle for a second...

impeller and housing after 4 hours

Had self proclaimed marine mech. (another post) replace the starboard impeller. He stated it needed a kit. He never ran the motor and tested, when I cranked it had no water flow out exhaust, he had hoses backassward. So after 4.0 hours of run time this is what the impeller and housing look...

5.7 Mercruiser crank driven water pump conversion

Anyone done the conversion from the belt driven raw water pump to either the Volvo or the Johnson crank driven pumps? Searched a bit but didn't see anything. Seems like it would be the fix, no longer climbing over and under the motor especially for the starboard side pump.

    Good or Bad mechanic ?

Hey everyone. Thanks for the input and I agree with all 100%. I have been gradually climbing in and doing it myself but was wanting to find someone I could depend on to do things that were a little tough or when time was tight. He and his wife moved to St. Pete area a year ago and thought I'd...
