    Backfiring carb issue

It is definitely a marine engine. When I called him, he said it could be a bad cam shaft

    Backfiring carb issue

I’m thinking to same thing. We did do a compression test and all were right around 150

    Backfiring carb issue

The motor is 3 years older. The carb is off my old motor and most everything else is brand new

    Backfiring carb issue

So we figured out the cause of the popping issue, it was a broken push rod. Now on to the next issue. After the motor swap, I lost about 8 mph and now have trouble getting up on plane if there are more than 2 people in the boat. What would cause less power when everything is the same that went...

    Backfiring carb issue

It is a 2 hour trip each way to drop it off to who did the intake (it’s the guy I got the engine from). I am trying to figure out anything obvious before making that trip again

    Backfiring carb issue

Where could it possibly be coming from? I replaced the carb mounting gasket thinking that may be the issue.

    Backfiring carb issue

I just had the intake manifold gasket replaced and now it’s backfiring out of the carb. It’s making a “popping” noise that increases with the throttle and slows when idling down. Did something happen when the mechanic changed the gasket? The noise was not there before the gasket change and is...

It has 620 hours and has been a fresh water boat as far as I know. I’m not sure if maint history, but I don’t previous owners were very good at it.

    Engine trouble

I have a 1999 Mercruiser 5.0 in my 215 EC. It operated fine all season last year, and now it won’t go over 10 mph. I have had carb rebuilt, drained and changed fuel and fuel filter, fuel pump, anti-siphon valve, ignition coil, plugs, wires, and cap. Anything else before I drop another $700 on a...

    Depth finder

I do have a 215 EC and do an on doing the installation. I do not have a problem drilling a hole, I just need to make sure I am getting the right one and to make sure I’m not missing something. I’m not concerned with much of a display other than seeing the depth where I am.

    Depth finder

The average depth where we boat is about 50’-100’. No fishing, just tubing and fun. My boat currently has a large external display that I’m looking to get rid of and change to a in the hull or through the hull transducer. Budget is $500 or less but can change if needed.

Any recommendations on a good depth finder to purchase for my Sea Ray?

    Temperature gauge issue

Thanks for the information. I did measure temp at the thermostat housing, not the manifold. I was incorrect with my wording. The temp was 125 with a garden hose attached at idle in my driveway, not while driving in the water. how do I get a matched sender and gauge? The sender came from the...
