I was able to run a new wire through the headliner to the helm. It wasn't hard... just a little tedious.

Perhaps it was a sloppy oil change from a prior owner?

Highly recommend the Fox Marine engine gateways! It will transmit the calculated flow from engine ECUs. I've thought about adding flow meters to the fuel lines for greater accuracy, but when I do a compare of what the ECUs (via Fox Marine Gateway) say is the fuel rate and the amount I refuel...
