Naw, I'm going to try to go back to my old marina. It was more "user-friendly" for people who like to do their own maintenance. It was a few hundred more but this isn't worth the hassle. I'll struggle through it for this season and it won't be exactly as clean as I'd normally want it but...
Looks like this is the way to go. I’ll probably just fill up the large ice chest with clean water I have and also get a cheap pump sprayer to rinse it off.
That was the second thing I asked but my boat is a hundred yards or more away from running water and they’d charge me to move the boat, even if they’d agree to do it.
So I switched to a new winter storage place and unlike my old place, they don’t turn on the water until May 1 and I’d like to get it prepped and in the water ASAP especially with the good weather and because I’ll be swamped first week of May. The water from the lake is only a few feet away. I...
Thanks for the great advice. Right now I have one starting battery and one deep cycle battery, with a typical battery switch. There’s plenty of room in the bilge to add a properly mounted third battery - I was wondering if I needed to add another battery switch or just run batteries on one...
I hope this isn't a common question - here's the deal. Last year I finally got to fixing a lot of things on my boat, including taking the dorm fridge out I used for over 15 years and replacing it with a proper AC/DC Isotherm fridge, upgrading the sound system and also adding the ability to use...
Beautiful boat. Back when Sea Ray made stylish, sturdy and affordable boats. I went to the local boat show this past week and there was little at the Sea Ray exhibit that caught my eye. It seems Cobalt has decided to fill the spot SR has walked away from.
How far are you from Michigan? There's a boat junkyard called Checkers near the Michigan - Ohio border. Might want to check there if you're nearby before the snow flies.
I almost had an opportunity to paint my bottom but the weather caught me and I didn’t get to it. Would have been nice to have that done and not wait for spring.
I agree. I stopped putting fuel stabilizer in all of my stored engines because it fouled the plugs. As far as fogging, I just spray carb cleaner at the beginning of the season. Again, this is for short term layups - these newer fuels apparently don’t normally go bad or cause any issues for short...
Actually many of us winterize our boats without the need to start them up, excluding fogging and warming up for changing oil. Go to the general winterization section and there are great threads on the various methods that involve draining and adding antifreeze straight to the engine manifold and...
For future reference, how did you connect the air hose to your system? I assume you ran out as much water from the system as you could and then used some type of airtight fitting to connect the compressor hose to the system. it makes a lot of sense because that’s what they do with yard...
Here‘s the deal. As you said, I prefer to go to my local marine store - Mike‘s Marine - because the guys there give really good advice and it’s just the right thing to do IMO to patronize these local shops if they’re helping me out rather than taking up their time and running off somewhere else...
Mainly because I didn't see it on the shelf and wasn't sure about the Walmart product for the engine but I trust the local marine guys. I'd rather give them my business on the product they gave me advice on.
