1999 Sundancer 310 DA. 350 MAG MPIs. Starboard engine has developed a “squeal” that becomes a “shriek” at higher RPM.
Using my highly discerning ear (not), I first thought it was an idler pulley. Swapped in a new one and alternated it in the two positions. Not the cause.
I them bit off on a...
Mirror on a stick showed it is coming from behind the exhaust manifold. But I can't tell if it is the valve cover seal that failed or if this is something more serious. Guess I'll find out this evening when I start taking the vale cover off (luckily I have a new valve cover seal just in...
Great idea on the endoscope. I had one a few years ago and it was crap. I'll check out the one you suggest.
I don't mean to imply I am going to pull the jenny just to find the leak. I worded my original post poorly. Asking for mechanic referrals in the Tampa area to prep for worst case...
Seeking any recommendations for Westerbeke mechanic in the Tampa Bay area (with ability to pull a generator from a boat in the water preferably). The genny on our 1999 310DA has an intermittent oil leak. I have not used it enough to fully diagnose the issue since noticing the leak last spring...
We have a 1999 Sundancer 310DA currently at the Ft Belvoir, Va, marina (Alexandria, VA, just south of D.C.). Uncle Sam sent us to Tampa not too long ago and relocating it via cruising was not in the cards time-wise, or gas cost.
Seeking any and all leads on any firm or experienced individual...
Hello and thanks folks. Believe it or not the 310DA is kept at Belvoire. McDill can handle it, just seeing what's out there... plus we have a 28' sailboat with a 5' draft that draws too much for McDill, which said 4' is about the max they'd recommend bringing in.
Uncle Sam is sending us to McDill AFB in Tampa. As I weight the cost-estimate of moving our 310DA down there either by trailer or its own power from D.C. (or sell it and buy a new one there), we need to find a new home for it. Not looking for a high end/high dollar marina. Just something with...
I was at MCRD Parris Island summer of '90 when Iraq initially invaded. Training got "sporty" that last remaining month. Ironically it would be almost 15 years before I'd deploy to the Al Anbar...
Prop off our 1999 Sundancer 310DA. Original Equipment spec Michigan Wheel Dyna Jet 16x17 Right hand (if I recall... looking at it from the stern... so port engine if I recall the rotation) bronze prop. 1 1/2" tapered standard shaft. In sorting some initial performance issues, I said "F**k it"...
