    Can I live on a 320DA

Hi Carver370 - not necessarily stuck on the 320 but it is a used boat for sale at my marina where I bought my new 270 last year. Given the fact that I've bought 4 brand new boats in 2.5 years and I'm super upside down, I figure my best bet is to keep buying where I've been buying (they'll give...

    Can I live on a 320DA

Thanks for all of the valuable feedback. Seems to me that the realistic answer is that I won't be able to "live" on the boat. Also given the fact I'm 6'7", taking showers will get old quickly. Maybe I'll move down the path of buying it anyway but not consider it home. I can always rent a...

    Can I live on a 320DA

Hi - I'm considering trading in my 270SLX for a used 2006 320 Sundancer for the purpose of actually living on the boat in the summer. My home is on the market (splitting with the Admiral) and I live a cold climate (Maine). So I was thinking about living on the boat from May through September...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

I checked in yesterday and the service manager still saying they can't find why it's losing the lube. He said they pressure tested it (but they didn't pull it out of the water - not sure if it's possible to pressure check while it's still in the water). He said he's suprised that there's no...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Tim - not glad you have the issue, but good to hear I'm not alone. Maybe there's some common problem with this boat / engine design. When are they pulling yours from the water? I'm stopping in at the Marina tomorrow to see what they've found on mine.

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Still losing gear lube. Have added over a quart so far this summer. Water still getting in. They're going to look at it again this week. I'm optimistic they'll figure it out this time.

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Well....sure enough....it went down again. I've now gone through 2 fill-tanks + of gear lube. I talked to the service manager a couple of days ago and he said they are going to pull the boat this week to check the seals (which leads me to believe they never really looked at it in the first...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Yesterday I got word from the marina that they didn't find anything wrong with the gear lube (not leaking). They told me to keep running it and check the lube level. Also, they said it's not taking on water, rather the front bilge pump had a blown fuse - which they replaced. Not sure if I...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Yes, when I say "dry" I mean the fill tank was empty. After I filled it back up and went back to the dock, I checked again and it was about 1/4 below the fill mark already. At the rate my marina works, it will probably be out of the water so they can look at it by Labor Day.

Boat lettering - where to stick it.

This is pefect. Thanks, Wesley. Mine is a 2007 so it's the same layout - I'll do mine the same way.

Boat lettering - where to stick it.

I have to put the boat name and port on the back of my boat since it's documented. The problem is that there's no good place to put it on a 270 SLX. The letters have to be at least 4 inches high. The alternative is putting them on each side of the boat which I don't think I would like. Has...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

It is brand new and under warranty (only 5 hours - mostly all put on yesterday). Yeah, I had a bad feeling about it. I let the marina/dealer know this morning (email). I got a call from them this morning telling me they'll give me an extra bottle of lube to get me through the weekend but...

    Gear lube and bilge issue???

Has anyone had any experience with the gearlube running dry? I have a new 270 SLX and yesterday, after stopping to do some grilling, I went to fire up the engine and the smart craft alarm went nuts. Turned out the gear lube was completely dry. I had extra so I filled it back up and went...

Is this what buying a new boat is all about - or am I just unlucky?

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing regarding a 30+ footer in 6 months. The problem is that my monthly payment would be $15,000 a month - can you say "upside down"!! My wife has been great about it since she likes boating as much as me - the first was actually the hardest to convince her to...

Is this what buying a new boat is all about - or am I just unlucky?

Thanks guys. That actually makes me feel a lot better. And it's funny because in my mind, I was using the automobile analogy. I guess the true test is how fast the dealer/marina responds to these types of issues. So far they've been pretty good with a little nudging. Either way, when you...
