    Is Mercathode enough?

I'm not certain the Mercathode system will do much to keep stuff from accumulating on your drive, but it will help keep your prop and outdrive from deteriorating due to stray current in the water. My experience is that no, the Mercathode system is not enough, as I still have minor corrosion and...

    Log Books

Marty: For years I used a 10X8” hard bound lab book (available at office supply stores) to record my observations. I recorded the following information at the beginning and end of each trip. I also made notes regarding wildlife spotted, people we met along the way, interesting events...

    Ran aground... Part II: Outcome/Cost

Todd: Another data point. The Searay dealer in Portland OR charged me $225 for haulout + splash in February.

    boat traffic down

The two public Columbia River docks at Government Island were packed for the 80+ degree weather, plus lots of boats and PWCs on the river. All this activity despite 12% unemployment in our area.

    Bottled water for icemaker

So how much bleach does one put in a 40 gal tank to sanitize the water system? Is bleach the best chemical to use?

    260 Horn Replacement

Dave S and others: I realize there have been previous discussion regarding horns on this board. Have any of you 260 owners actually replaced the duck horn with an air horn? I'm considering replacing mine with a Kahlenberg dual air horn, but I don't know where to mount it + the compressor, etc...

Brunswick CEO Sees Reduction In US Power Boat Sales

BC stock is selling at $2.55 today. The 52 week low was $1.82 back in November. Not exactly an enthusiastic response from investors, in my opinion. So it's clear that sales will suck this year. My question is what Sea Ray will do to keep current owners / potential customers enthusiasitc...

    When will you splash?

Although my boat is in the water year round, it is being hauled out for annual servicing in early March. The boat will then be splashed for the season in mid-March.

Ritz Camera, aka baoters World files Ch 11

So I'm confused. Is Boaters World included in the Ritz Chapter 11 filing? Nevermind. I see now in the article that "Ritz has about 800 photo stores in 40 states, operating as Ritz Camera, Wolf Camera, Kits Cameras, Inkley's and The Camera Shops. It also operates 130 Boater's World stores."...

    260DA fuel consumption

I have the 496 Mag in my 2006 260. We typically cruise 28-30 MPH and burn 14-15 GPH. Boattest.com (back in 2005) reported that my boat should cruise most efficiently at 25.1 MPH and burn 13.6 GPH. Boattest also reported that at 4.0 MPH, the GPH was 1.21. It should probably be noted that the...

So, compared with last year, is attendance down?

    What about bypassing water heater?

sbw1 is correct -- flushing out the water system (several times) after having filled it with pink antifreeze takes a few minutes, but I prefer to purchase extra gallons of pink and fill the water heater when winterizing. This is the process my mechanic first recommended and it works well for...

    Seattle Boat Show, Opening/VIP night

Thanks for the photos! I'm looking forward to experiencing the show next weekend. Does attendance seem down compared with last year? Attendance at the Portland OR show was down -- very few lines to view boats + several boat manufacturers were not present.
