Hi guys ! my first post here, took delivery of a 05 Amberjack 290 this morning in the rain and
find that the transom storage lid is gone with the wind during transport. Please let me know if you have one laying around and want to sell or know any good salvage yard that may have it. This is my first Sea Ray so im pretty new. Thanks

Please help ....I've been calling everywhere and Sea Ray no longer making it , what other option do I have ? Thanks in advance.

If you can't find one you will need to find a donor to have a mold made from a fiberglass shop. From the mold they should be able to fabricate one. This most likely will not be cheap unless you know some in the industry.

I would look back to the previous owner or your transporter to make good since you did not receive it unless it was already missing during the survey. If this is indeed the rear storage lid that is hinged it should not have easily just fallen off. Depending on the cost you might want to consider filing an insurance claim for theft.

Thanks Kevin! After an exhausted search which yielded no luck, I called a local fiberglass company and they're going to try to either find a mold or make one out of foam. Im pretty sure it will be very expensive but I have no other choices. I had no idea how it came off the boat during transport because it's not protruding or standing against the wind or anything. The lid was still intact when the transporter accepted the boat and it was only 1000 miles trip. Let me see how much it will cost before I consider the insurance claim route. Thanks again for your time and what a beautiful boat you have there.

I posted in the 290AJ thread, but you could make one from Starboard.

A very long shot but you could try Flounder Pounder marine. I just bought a reproduction (actually better than OEM) swim ladder hatch for my swim platform that I swore no one would have.

I've tried Flounder Pounder marine with no luck , had no choice but commissioned a local fiberglass guy to fabricate one from scratch out of foam mold for $850..ouchhhhh. Should be done in a couple weeks. Thanks guys !!

Well...I deducted only a couple hundred not knowing Sea ray stop making them....sighh...

Tough lesson but at least you offset some of the cost and I am sure it would look better than one pulled from a salvage.

This should be a "teachable moment" to all boaters - never underestimate the cost of replacing a part.

Did you ever get that door made?Wondering if you could share the companies number because I also need a transom door

No, I haven’t been able to locate one. I just took my friends door off and I’m going to make a mold and attempt to do it myself…

Did you find one?

Did you ask a question and then answer yourself?

No, I answered someone else’s question I replied to my thread.
