40 sedan bridge forum

I put this in its own thread a while ago, but if you haven't seen that thread, here is the perforated film I put on the outside of the side windows. It blocks most of the view to the inside and reflects the sun, but you can see out perfectly fine. I am toying with the idea of covering the entire front windshield with it.

What do you estimate the cost for the whole windshield? I was also thinking about doing that.

Where do you purchase this?
Online. It's made by Vvivid. It comes in various size rolls. It's only 3 mil thick so easy to tear while applying. Holes are 50% coverage. 3M makes one as well that is 6 mil and holes are only 40% coverage. So more forgiving to apply and more privacy. That's probably what I would go with for the front windshield.

Links?

I found it on amazon.
Bill, I’m assuming you need to install on the inside, like window tint, right??

VViViD® One-Way Perforated Black Vinyl Privacy Window Film Adhesive Glass Wrap Roll (5ft x 48") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01INJXEPM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DEB8AbYMCMP33
It peels and sticks to the outside of the window.

They have black or white. I got white. John your link is for the black.

I did the side windows with four 17"x54" rolls. One roll for each piece of glass. Total cost was about $60.

Morning everyone - got the boat in the water last week - everything went well. I have a question about the transmissions. It is a CAT C7 backed by a Twin Disc transmission, all the controls are butter smooth, shifting doesn't grind or clunk, however there is about a 1+ second delay when I place the shifters in gear. Does anyone else find this same thing on theirs or is this something that can be adjusted? It makes for an interesting docking situation as the response is "lagging". Manageable, have to anticipate it, but wanted to know if that was normal? Thoughts?

Yesterday I took the family out for a Mother's Day cruise and anchored for a cook out on the water. This was the first time anchoring with this boat and I realized there is no cleat near the windlass to secure the rode once the anchor is set. My 340 had one and I would think it makes sense to take the tension off the bow roller and windlass.

Do other 400 Sedan Bridges have this or do you just set the anchor and forget it?

If yours has the factory all chain option, then they did not install the anchor cleat. Those of us with the factory chain/rope combo have a factory installed anchor cleat.

Are the windows already tinted on the 400DB?

Thanks,
Bennett

I don't have all chain, nor do I have an anchor cleat.

What I do it this: I pull out enough slack rode from the bow roller away from the boat. Then I take that slack and tie it to one of the bow cleats. That way, when the rode becomes taut again, it's pulling directly on the bow cleat and not putting any pressure on my windless or any bow rails.

Thanks to everyone for the quick response

Are you taking the rode before or after the bow roller?

Working back from the anchor which is on the sea floor, the first thing my rode touches is the bow cleat. then the rode loosely goes from that bow cleat, back to the bow roller (from the outside of the boat), through the ring and then to the windless.

If I tied off the rode to the cleat with a section of rode between the roller and the windless, I'd be putting a lot of pressure on the roller and ring. And it would be noisy as the rode would slap against the ring every time the boat swayed back and forth.

I hope this makes sense. I couldn't find a pic on the internet.

That makes sense and is certainly easier then installing a cleat.

A fellow 400DB owner and I have been chasing the generator muffler situation. We finally figured it out.

Our parts manual says we have a 8"x12" dual stage muffler. But we don't. We have a dinky 6"x9" single stage muffler. Centek got back to us and their part number for the 8x12 dual stage is 1529001. Cheapest I have found for it is $412 at PerfProTech. Centek said this dual stage will be quieter than any single stage that we could get to fit.

- sorry for the bump, just figured I would double check with everyone.
