Hey guys,

I went down to my marina on Friday night, slept on board for the 1st time ever, did not get much sleep as around 5 am it started to rain and winds picked up so the water splashing the hull kept me up all night even having enough drinks did not make me pass out out. LOL

Took the boat out off the water around 10 am and had a detail guy come in he did Compound wax on the bottom top sides and cabin all of less than $400 ( IF you are in the Sound NJ area message me and i will get you this guy contact # he is cheaper than most and knows his stuff)

While the detail was going on:

- I installed the Underwater Lights from (https://boatpluglight.com) they are looking good and bright.

- Removed old boat name "Bye Bye Daisy V )

- Also i mounted a TV
- Mounted an Apple TV so i can stream live TV from my phone to the apple TV using Direct TV APP on my iPhone/iPad.

-Than finally yesterday i put the boat back in the water and i had to go for a quick ride although the weather was not so nice i had to make one quick run :)

- Came back docked the boat (after 5 try's) still need more practice as this is my 2nd boat and 1st time renting a slip at the marina. Also happy that i did not hit any other boats or damaged mine.

p.s don't mind my djing videos :) it was all extracted as one movie from Instagram.

Overall successful weekend :))

Cant wait for nice weather

If anyone has any questions or wants more detailed videos of something i did please let me know.

Thanks
Nick

We did the Apple TV thing on our last boat, but this time went with the adapte below and it works 100%. Requires no power and whatever is on the phone/iPad screen, is on the TV.

So you jailbroke the Apple TV? I was under the impression Kodi won't run on Apple products??

One tip on the sleeping - get a white noise machine. Or the "white noise" app for your phone. Or a nice fan. A little bit of background noise will make the water less noticeable. I'm a pretty light sleeper and when out on the hook I generally will not sleep well without the noise machines running. Some folks love the sound of water hitting the hull....others not so much.

I have a developer account with apple so i am able to do this :)

If I get an Apple TV and have Direct TV subscription and DirectTV app on my iPad can I screen mirror the iPad to the Apple TV through Bluetooth? I don’t have WiFi on the boat.
I tried the Apple Lightning Digital AV adapter hooked up to my TV on the boat recently and it wouldn’t let me play things on the TV from the DirectTV app.
I only have one Direct TV box on the boat, but have 3 TV’s
I’m able to watch downloaded content that’s on my iPad from Netflix and Amazon Prime on the TV using the Apple AV adapter, but not live content from the DirectTV app.
I watch live DirectTV content all the time on my iPad thanks to unlimited data for streaming, but I’d like to get it on the bigger TV screen if I can.

which version apple tv do you have? if you have the newest one you can install the Direct TV app on the apple tv so you wont need to stream anything.

The way i watch "LIVE" tv my apple tv (older gen) has few tv apps installed on it, all i did was log in to the app using my direct tv log in.

WiFi - i have unlimited hotspot from my phone so thats how my apple tv gets internet. :)

Hope this helps.

I don’t have an Apple TV device yet. Wanted to check this out before I get one.
I wouldn’t be able to use any of the apps on an Apple TV on the boat.
I don’t have WiFi at my dock so I need to keep getting DirectTV on my iPad with unlimited data streaming and then get it to the Apple TV if possible.

Like I said I don’t have WiFi installed on the boat and the marina does not have wifi but my phone and your iPad are capable of giving your Apple TV WiFi

Go to settings on your iphone/iPad
Then go to personal hot spot

I have this condo for work and I am too cheap to put cable in it .. But it has high speed internet and a big screen :)... I use my direct tv account from my home to stream from my iPhone/iPad to Apple TV.....
Problems -
The direct tv app just plain sucks it constantly thinks my iPhone is screen recording as I mirror
It's a pain to get to live streaming and change channels
It doesn't play recorded shows from home like it claims
It defaults to CNN when I open the app
It constantly loses picture quality and or sound
The direct tv app on my iPad will not go full screen on the tv...it's about 30% reduced
When your streaming you lose access to your phone and if you need to look at the phone you lose your program
Did I mention the direct tv app sucks
I don't know if this post helped..... But if it's any consolation I feel better :)

You are absolutely right the direct tv sucks ass but like I said if you log in to the apps on your Apple TV using your directv tv account and giving your Apple TV eifibthiugh your phone then it’s fine.. as far as ur problemS try to detele your app and install it again

The AV adapter I posted above is made by Apple and it will mirror anything I have ever tried. We have DishNetwork and the DishAnywhere App works very well. I have used it to connect to the Apple TV via Bluetooth and then mirrored DishAnywhere, NetFlix, WatchESPN, and anything else. The AV adapter is a little more consistent, but both work well. We have been doing this for 4-5 years now. Also use the phone as a hot spot to use the apps on the Apple TV.

@bbwhitejr thats what ive been saying use your phone personal hot spot to give internet to the apple tv and then boom. now you are able to use the tv apps from apple tv and also use your phone.

My Apple TV is the Gen 2 and is older. Most of the time we use the apps on the phone or ipad and use the Apple TV just to mirror, but using the phone as a hot spot is certianly a blessing....

You could always pickup a cheap FireTV Stick, load up the DTV App and plug straight into HDMI Port. If you want to be able to distribute a single source to all you TVs there is a way to do that too over standard coax already on wired in.

Tried again to play my DirectTV app on my iPad, connect the iPad to the TV with the Apple AV and have the live content from DirectTV appear on the TV and it doesn’t work.
My DirectTV App works great on the iPad. I use it in the gym 4 mornings a week.
With the Apple AV cable connecting my iPad (using my unlimited data)to the TV on the boat I can play DVR content from my Fios TV, downloaded content from Netflix, and downloaded content from Amazon.
But the DirectTV app will not let me play content from my iPad to the TV on the boat with the Apple AV cable.

I’ve got the coax/splitter set up so that I only use one DirectTV box to feed all 3 TV’s but they all have to play the same channel.
To watch something different on one of the TV’s I use my iPad with an Apple AV cable.
My KVH Sat. tv system is older and uses a 12 volt box which makes it harder to get additional boxes. I was hoping to use the iPad with the DirectTV App in place of an additional box but it looks like that isn’t a possibility.
I think the DirectTV App must be blockingit somehow.

If you can run the DTV app on the Fire Stick we can feed the other TVs via a modulator that will put the output on a HD TV channel. I plan on installing this on my boat when I put in my new TV. Will be feeding the rear fold down via a HD receiver that has Standard AV output. (Yes my list is big this year).
