How do you Northerners do it?

At least we have no mosquitoes or flies right now...
Yes and soon it will be winter and those that hatch will die off. Then we store the boats and load up on fire wood. Just another couple of advantages of being "up north".

Memorial Day about 4 years ago.

When swimming these icebergs are a great place to crawl up on and take a rest.

They say Michigan has two seasons.....winter and the 4th of July.

I thought that was a product of Photoshop. Sitting on an chunk of ice that big in a bathing suit can’t be easy.

Awesome shot. Looks vaguely familiar to Howe Sound, but I suspect it's somewhere further north judging by the ice in the water (and your location being listed as northern BC). Whereabouts are you?
That pic was actually March of 2017 on the Douglas Channel. Tried to get into the same spot and time this year but it was still completely frozen over. We usually run out of Kitimat early and then Prince Rupert for the remainder of the season.

Memorial Day about 4 years ago, it was 80F, great day to hit the beach.
Man Woody........My toes are cramping up just looking at that. At our S. Shore cabin, if we have a south wind, it can be 80-90 outside, but the surface temp can be in the High 50's, low 60's......brrrr

Very neat.
Yeah. It is about 5 miles from me and always knew it was there and went past it hundreds of times but never been inside until a few years ago the first year we stored it. Lots of the local boaters keep theres in there. There are boats, RV's and cars/trucks stored in there. Never goes below ~55* but I winterize anyway (good thing cause it came home about 3 weeks ago and we had temps in the low 20's a few nights).

Just for informational purposes, a mirror from a large telescope (Subaru telescope) was kept there but it was too big to store inside so it sat outside. Also, the movie Day of the Dead was filmed there.

Punxsutawney Phil, the King of the Groundhogs was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after predicting an early spring.

Northwest Indiana here. Same problem as a lot of others I need a window of time to get shrinkwrap off sand bottom paint and buff topsides plus get batteries charged so I can get into engine compartment and change impeller before my May 5 launch date. Bottom was supposed to get done this weekend but cold and rainy. I hate to say it but I think I'm going to have to push my launch back a week or 2 :-(

Worst. Spring. Ever.

Ice pellets most of the day yesterday. Accumulated about 6 inches. Then turned to freezing rain for most of today. Nice heavy crust over top of it all. 30 to 40 mph winds the whole time. Temps around 30 to 34. Now turned to rain and supposed to rain for about 24 hrs heavy. Temps just above freezing. Long range temps, well below normal for at least 2 weeks. WTF?

Summer will eventually come, and this will all be forgotten (says the guy who took his boat out yesterday even if it was just for a safety check with the squadron ).

Even so, still nothing but cold rain in the forecast here.

We've been hearing about this out here on the news ...just nuts.
