Twin 4.3 Mercs Alpha I
I’ve had several boats before but never had to replace the anodes. I just wanna make sure I buy the right kit. Can anybody tell me what I need to look for when buying a kit? I know there’s a couple different versions for the alpha drive.

Also I know there’s an anode in each trim tab that won’t be included in any kit. Are there any others I need to replace? Thanks

you got alphas and alphas GenII they are different I got both between 2 boats

A 1999 would be a Gen II. Next question is salt or freshwater and magnesium or aluminum. I would ask some people in your area what they use. Generally aluminum for salt and could be magnesium for fresh, but it depends.

Definitely genII’s. I could have figured that out myself but didn’t realize it was that easy. Owner of the marina said aluminu, brackish water on the lower Potomac. Thanks for your help guys

So I bought a two anode kits from Amazon. Each kit only comes with 1 anode for a ram. Is this correct? Each drive has two rams obviously so I would have expected two anodes for each drive. That’s how the Bravo I used to own was set up. Thanks guys

Not sure what you ordered, but each kit for a Gen 2 should come with 2 Ram anodes, a large anode for the base of the transom assembly, an anode for the front of the outdrive, a round anode for the rear of the outdrive, and finally, one for in front of the prop shaft. If aluminum, this kit is what you'd want.

My bad, all the pieces are there. They were stacked on top of each other in vacuum pack kinda deal and I couldn’t tell there were two. The ones for a bravo are like 2.5” long and these are only like .75” long. Crisis averted, as you were. Thanks guys
