So I was looking to replace all of my canvas (old and crusty now) on my 2000 Model 270 DA. I called Great Lakes and got the bad news. My boat was built in Arizona and the patterns they got from Sea Ray at the time were so useless that they threw them out.

That kinda sucks...

I was hoping an under-$2k option, but that doesn't sound like it's going to happen. Has anyone had experience replacing the canvas on one of these?

I have the same boat and ended up having a local guy do it for about 4K. That includes the cockpit cover which I use more than the canvas. If you shop it you should be able to do it for 2K.

Was thinking about getting the TN built canvas, and seeing if a canvas shop could make alterations. Thoughts?

There is a guy on ebay (Harvard marine). He has the factory canvas plans for The AZ built Sea Ray. I have not purchased anything from him but he said he is the only one with those patterns

hope this helps

I have a 260 1999 Arizona build, I took the gamble and ordered the Great Lakes canvas, I checked the Bimini on my frame off the boat, it seemed the front bow needed more camber to pull the canvas even and taught. So I re-bent the front bow, by bending down the top curve to face more forward, than original upright stance. Maybe I was lucky, but the clears and all canvas fits perfect. Apart from import to Australia it was a good price and excellent quality. Up to you but, worked fine for me. Maybe just order the Bimini, then see how close your old clears mount up before getting the full kit?
cheers Richard

I know its an old thread but want to be helpful. I to was in the same predicament. My 2001 is an AZ boat and thus was told by Great Lakes Boat Tops they cannot guarantee fit nor would they replace if it didn't fit.
I took the chance during a 25% off deal and ordered the entire frame and canvas package, glass, camper and bimini Total was $2500 and they had it ready in under 7 days.

It all fit like a charm - after looking at the original frame it looks like I could've just used the old one instead of buying an brand new frame and saved some coin.

So if you're hesitant don't be - save money and time as their turnaround is quick.

Hi, are you saying that you purchased the canvas for the TN built boat. Also did the canvas/camper top have the sea mark coating underneath from great lakes ?. I am trying to sort this AZ canvas nonsense out right now.

Sorry for the late reply. Thought i had email notifiaction for responses.

Correct my boat is an AZ boat. I bought the canvas and frame from great lakes directly for a TN built boat.

Fit perfectly. Not mods required. Looking backing im sure i couldve used my old frame.

Yes the canvas is seamark they also offer the non coated sunbrella which the sales person said all new sr’s come with as it breathes better. I chose seamark.

The canvas came with measurements for the fittings on the hull and they match perfectly.
I’ll dig around for the instructions and post later.

I have a 99 270 Sundancer (Arizona built) and posted the same thing a few months ago. Kevin C. from Cove Marine contacted me and we found that if you have the original bimini frame the Great Lakes canvas works !!! I purchased a new bimini top with all the front and side panels as well as a slant back canvas and a new cockpit cover. I installed all the snaps (a first for me) and it fits awesome. Kevin C. is a great contact to have as he is a distributer for Great Lakes and he helped me thru the whole process, right down to finding me the best price for a good snap installation tool. He is here on Club Sea Ray and I highly recommend looking him up. Kevin C 34 Sundancer. If you have a problem finding him get back to me and I will look up his phone number.
