Cabin light bulb replacement

Also a note, on all the BA15S bulbs. The way that base works there is not “flipping” it to make polarity work with the LED. So you have the option of finding a smart LED that does not care, getting lucky, or flipping the white and Black 12v wires at the fixture.

My head was wired correctly, my bildge was backwards, and only one of the step lights in my cockpit was backwards... seams searay did not give a crap which way as incadecsnt bulbs work either way.... again this only
Matters to the BA15s bulbs as there is no way to flip them. Center is posative, outer is neg... on the festoon and dual poles, and wedge 194 you can just flip the bulb till it works.

Above I posted a smart BA15s that works in bilge and shower.. but to Big for steps.

thanks again....

just found some non polarity sensitive, BA15S larger bulbs (33 SMD) and ordered a set to try in the bilge. Once they come in will report back. $9.99 for 2, there is 4 in the bilge... will make sure they work before I go for a second round... I have lots of LEDs I have not used haha in my trials. I also did my nave lights in LED, but thats a whole other argument and lessons people want to tell you on here. They are brighter then the factory for sure. both the BA15s Colored ones (red and white) for the bow, and the small festoon 360 white ones (one front and one rear) for the light on the arch, and the rear 41mm festoon on the transom.

also the light in the storage locker in the rear has one thats helpful when hooking up power. one LED in there and BAM can see everything.

which LED bulb does the white stern light on the transom take?......I am thinking of putting some really bright LED bulbs in the engine room.....even thought about using a bright LED rope light around the perimeter of the deck opening for the ER to insure I have good lighting all around with minimum shadows....

Mittens, lights that are part of USCG mandated navigation lights (port, starboard, anchor, stern, etc) have to meet USCG standards. Just changing a bulb to LED may not meet the requirements.

As I stated I previous post, someone would come in here telling me what was legal and not. Haha. They are brighter the factory, and it’s my boat, did not ask anyone’s thoughts on it. Giving information for those that want it.

I have been looking for over an hour on the forums on how to disassemble this cabin lighting fixture on my 2008 350 DA. I don't see a slot to insert a screwdriver blade to pop off the lens cover. I have tried to twist it off rotating clockwise and counter clockwise to no avail.

What am I missing?

Look at the flat part of the lens (not on the side of the fixture), there is a small slot that you can get a small screw driver in a pop the lens off and get the the bulb.

I replaced them all on my 340. AC and DC mains, all the projector reading, and bathroom lights.

also the cockpit floor, and arch lights, and the storage locker on the platform. Nav lights red and greena nd anchor/running.
Do you have a list of the led bulbs u used. Thank you got your help.

On my DA44, I cannot get this fixture out to replace the bulb and it is specifically the one in the gangway to the forward berth. I have removed 4 others and they were tight but this one is not budging and now have damaged the bezel. I need help.

If you are talking about the fixtures that have the two spring clips I find one of the side screws on the vertical surface and pry that down below the liner. I then find the other side which is 180 degrees to the other side. I pry it down. Now both spring clips should be vertical. Don't grasp the fixture by the area by the screws to pull down. Rotate your fingers 90 degrees so when you pull down the "mouse trap" spring clips do not catch your fingers when you pull the fixture out. I used a huge 12" screw driver with a 5/8" tip to pry with. I slid a wood paint stirrer between the tip and the liner to protect it.

The first two took me 20 minutes and my fingers got snapped by the springs. I then figured it out and they took 5 minutes. The admiral says I'm not the brightest bulb! No pun intended.

The replacement bulbs had led's on all four sides. They were pretty white. I would prefer a warmer light. On Amazon they were:
10-Pack G4 LED Bulb 12V DC, 10W T3 JC Halogen Light Bulbs Replacement, 1.5W / 110 Lumens, Warm White 3000K, G4 Bi-Pin Base Lamp $9.88

They were too dim for the shower. I used: HERO-LED BG4-15T-WW Standard Back Pin G4 LED Halogen Replacement Bulb, 3W, 30W Equal, Warm White 3000K, 5-Pack(Not Dimmable) $19.95 for 5. These were great!

West Marine also has a great selection and if you take your bulb in they can get your replacement. At a buck a bulb for the ones on line I can try others.

I need to replace a couple on my 02 380. Afraid of damaging headliner... Is there a video or any other pics showing how to remove outer ring? Thanks

These just pull straight down, here is a good description

If they’re the same as on my 2002 410 then they take G4 bulbs and are held up there with spring clips. The best way to get them down is to locate the two side pivot points for the light.
The places to pull down are 90 degrees from each of those two side pivot points.
Pull the fixtures down with even pressure on two sides.
I find it easy to get them started with plastic automotive panel removers (little pry bars) that I have, then just pull them the rest of the way by hand.
Once down, unplug them and you can work on them on the counter. Just be careful of the lenses. They are very delicate. I put a folded towel under the fixture on the counter. before I separated the pieces just in case the lense fell out.
I changed the bulbs in all of mine and using the plastic tools to get them started I had no damage or marking to my headliner at all.
Do one in the head first so you see how they are up there.

Ok I got the housing out. Now how do I get the bulb out. This the light in the Head. Thanks
