I’m not sure if this helps but I recently discovered that the Mercruiser 8.1s horizons are actually a General Motors product. My understanding is that with a few obvious exceptions it’s the same engine they put into their mid-size truck lines. I am no mechanic but I replaced my water pump on my recent rebuild with a direct replacement from GM. It was wayyyyyy less than the Mercruiser replacement
