260DA 6.2 overheating

So new pump is in.. going out tomorrow...

Sure looks a lot better. Did it solve the overheating issue?

well damn.. super disappointed... zero change in performance...

What's your engine number ? The hose configuration looks a bit strange to me.
Open cooling system usually has a feed hose at the bottom of the exhaust manifold and all water exits the elbow.

Refer to post 21-24

i did do the flow test somewhat.. i left the hose off the distribution on bottom, started up and it appeared to flow a good amount of water... didnt capture to measure but appeared would meet the 7.5 qts/ 15 sec or close to with flush ears and hose...

from the outdrive to the raw pump... not connected to pump, with flush ears on hose, flows a lot of water...

thinking the block is full of crap...

You have to time it. There's no way to know without quantifying it. It may be good - but a test is a test is a test. There's no way for us to help without facts. This is a variable that needs to be established/eliminated.

Happy's not offering up his engine number..... so.. Thinking his open cooled system may have that T restrictor in the mix that will hold the water in his block longer, maybe something's up with that if his system even has one.

lol you guys funny...

yes i had to take a break from the cooling challenge and make myself happy with some audio work...

plus had a wedding, other family stuff, its on a trailer so to do the test right i need to be in the water

where do i find my engine number... i am happy to provide for additional support

spending this weekend out on it having fun on the hook fri and sat, i pay too much not to do so and its not critical

in a few weeks i plan on taking a few days off and dedicating to a resolution before the water gets hot down here... will try and do water flow test prior but probably pull everything (again) and clean/flush..

i do appreciate all the assistance and support, you guys are great!! I LOVE my boat!

On a metal plate above the starter. If your model has a distribution housing there should be a T fitting on the vertical water line, that has a restrictor in it, to direct more water through the block.

Any updates?

Finally took today to seek again...

I think I found the culprit!

Pulled the exhaust all off... began flushing and disassembling hoses.. pulled engine circulating pump.. flushed block.. seemed fine... back to hoses and the fuel cooler inline hose assembly I found a damn piece of an impeller stuck in the orifice ! Had to pull out with long needle nose! .. also spent significant time seeming and flushing exhaust header which had built up gunk and rust chips. . Cleaned dried and spot painted headers.. reassemble ...

6 hrs tour! Before would overheat on the rabbit ears flushing but held low temp 150... with 140 stat..

Tomorrow test run!

Is that the fuel cooler or the power steering cooler?
I’m having a bit of trouble figuring out what’s in the pictures.

the fuel cooler... right after the raw pump...

SUCCESS! finally!

went through those hoses 2 times previously.. seemed to flow well but this time broke down to each piece...

she held temp around 158 w/ 140 stat.. 7.5-8psi

pressure is still low but much improved!!
