This year I decided to have the boat professionally compounded, polished and waxed... I just didn't have the time this year. A friend recommended the company so that helped. The results to me are incredible... He finished today and sent me a few pics. I couldn't be happier with the results... Come on spring!!

Looks awesome. .... I have mine done every year by a professional. He just seems to have an art for it and I don't. I have done all my previous boats, but none of them looked as good as my current 99'. The PO said he had it done every year and it shines like crazy so I wasn't about to screw it up trying myself.

Looks great! Having mine done in a couple weeks

Seems there are a couple of us on Lake St. Clair in this thread who are you guys using? I just don't have time for either of my boats this year.

Ed
Ed I sent you Rick's contact.. My boat is up in Algonac my friends boat is down at the bottom of the Detroit river... So he travels quite a distance

Looks really good... I get what you say about doing it yourself ...it just doesn't look as good compared to someone in that business

Blueone, not to take over thread...how do you like the harbor club for storage
This is my second winter up there. The people are great. You definetly need to cover your boat to protect it from bird droppings and small leaks from the roof and a lot of dust. I wish the hours were longer they are 9-4.. You can sneak in at 8:00 but a lot of times 4:00 is just too soon.. Pricing is more reasonable then most on St Clair... And it was easy to get in where a lot of indoor has a waiting list.
It is a bit out of the way and I always seem to be myself when the boat comes out or goes in storage and that's a logistic issue with your car. I use Safe ride Sue to pick me up down on Clinton river and drive me up to the boat that day and it works out. The Beauregards of Colony Marine own it and they are good people so you have no worries there.

Logistical nightmare for me as well

I use a small local guy for detailing needs. Good guy and details my boat like it's his own boat. I'll have it done again mid summer too. Takes care of me on price. Win Win

Safe ride Sue is your answer there. I spent a week up there last winter in an interesting motel ...working on the boat.. Painting the bottom and waxing, fixing things etc. so I was in every bar in Algonac for lunch and dinner over that week... In every men's bathroom was Safe ride Sue's phone number.. So when it came time to figure out how was I going to get the car issue figured out... I called Sue... She is pretty proud of the fact her phone number is in every men's bathroom....pretty funny... So I asked her how much does she charge ...she says $10 a town. I said how many towns to Clinton... She said 7... She has been driving me back and forth ever since.

I use a guy name Joe 586-484-8488. He is partners with Ken at Michigan Boat Works. I call him in December and get on his schedule. Then I'll call him in the spring and let him know when the shrink is coming off and my launch date and he has it done. He also includes cockpit detail and clean/condition the seats.

She looks fantastic, do you know what product they used?
He tells me that he looks at every boat he does and picks/mixes products depending on condition. In otherwords, not giving away his secret.

I keep my boat outside at Beacon Cove under shrink. I said to myself when I bought the 400 that I'll take the money I save on inside storage and have it wheeled every year. I would love to be in inside heated but they cram the boats in so tight that you almost can't work on them like I can outside and I don't have to worry about the hours of operation.

Back in the early 90's I used Michigan Boat for detailing and shrink wrap because my nephew worked for Ken, I heard these days though unless he shrink wraps your boat he won't wheel it. Is that true? They always did great work.
