I figured I'd post the install while I'm at it. I'm looking to have my Garmin 7610 display my trim tab position. Whats needed for this is Bennett's Upper hinge CC3003S and CC3003P along with Garmins GBT10 adapter for the NMEA 2000. So far all I did is remove the existing pistons from the boat and disassemble. That was the first thing I did wrong. The new upper hinge comes with a white spacer you need to install before you remove the upper hinge. Apparently the piston has a huge spring inside and is very hard to expand. Just make sure you put the white spacer in there. Well I'm glade I decided to take this on for the fact that both inside spacers were crushed. The new kit comes with them so that's a plus. I will post as I complete it.

getting ready to do this again for the third time.

Why. What happened?

Nothing, Third boat. thought I could live with out the indicator but I was wrong. Getting ready to order another one. Not sure if it's going to be the older just indicator (tpi 2000) or one with the switch incorporated into the indicator (eic 5000).

I agree. I've had the tpi2000 for 6 years and wouldn't be with it. On a big boat that needs the tabs it's nice to know the tab position prior to pushing up on plane. I usually have mine about 2/3 deployed and retract to to just under half once on plane. If heavily loaded I will almost fully deploy and retract to half once on plane. on a small I would use them mostly for port/starboard balance and maybe some assist to get on plane.

I would like to display my trim tab positions on my Garmin 840xs too. If I already have a Merc NMEA200 Gateway module to convert my Smartcraft engine data on my Garmin do I still need to get the Garmin BT10 adapter too? I already have the Bennett upper hinges for port and starboard in my cart already. Thx.

Yes. It converts the tabs to work with NMEA2000. Looks like this on GPS.

Resurrecting an old thread here. Has anyone been able to get the GBT10 to work with the Bennet EIC5000 trim indicator setup? The documentation calls out the Bennett TPI but the EIC5000 setup wiring is all encapsulated.
