Long story short, it doesnt work and have been trying to decide replacing with standard pump with float switch or a newer version which has the float switch built in. Has anyone used the newer pumps?

I am not a fan of built in switches. I think I would stay with regular float type

So far I think the standard float switch is a winner!

Another vote for separate pump and float switch. The float switches seem to go bad more than they should but I never had a pump go bad.
I like the idea of the Water Witch. I’d like to use them in my shower sumps but not sure how I would mount them in that plastic box.

i will clean the area where the pump and switch are before my shoulder surgery that my marine mechanic can test whats there now before deciding to replace.

Agree on the Water Witch. I haven't had a switch failure since I switched. https://waterwitchinc.com/bilge-switches/

JVM you could just glue it to the inside of the sump box with something like 3M 4200.

I had thought about that but it’s kind of tough to get things to reliably stick to plastic. I’d much rather find another way to secure it.
The 4200 might work to create a seal between two surfaces when one is plastic but I don’t know how well it would work for attaching something to the side of a plastic wall and hold it there reliably when the boat starts bouncing around.

That's where mine is mounted... (showers, sinks, sump box)

I mounted it on the sidewall in the lower section of the sump box...(with sealer on the screws)
Thanks, but I’m not comfortable with drilling holes in the plastic sump for screws. I’ve got to try to come up with another plan.

Mechanical pumps fail eventually, water sensitive pumps become coated and once damp they stay on until the surface is cleaned. Our aft shower is water sensitive and after a few weeks of daily use it stays on until the surface is cleaned. We have had 2 mechanical switches fail. Pain to replace but they work when covered in scum. I will keep replacing them with mechanical ones.
