Am I the only one who has noticed that the recent Chevy truck ads have only included "good ol' guy" rednecks in their truck ads? No women, nobody in suits, nobody who looks like he/she works in a professional capacity? You, only the good ol' fat rednecks addressing their love for the new trucks in their mumbling, stumbling, kicking their feet, shuffling around with their hands in their pockets. All the while mumbling their unintelligible phrases and "man sounds" as the drool over new trucks.

Where are the "Women Matter" groups and the "White Collar People Matter" groups?

You've been tossed to the curb by Chevy's truck division. Sorry. It would appear you no longer matter to Chevy.

Unless Chevy builds a stern drive to float my redneck family, I really don’t care...

What's wrong with our society, that's terrible, someone needs to start a movement.....#TruckNutsforEveryone

100 years of the best truck on the planet

Pick on the democrats or at least Schumer

I find it ironic that GM is marketing $50k+ trucks to blue collar workers.

Actually it isn't ironic, it is sadly effective. I personally know a few people with new trucks who are spending well over a quarter of their monthly income on the truck payment.

"....GMC Sierra Denali 4x4...."

"2500 denali duramax"

"I'm from Michigan, drive a GMC Sierra Denali 4x4, most of my uncles and brother retired from GM and we all buy GM."

Whoa, wait a minute you guys. Before you get your panties in a knot, especially you guys (and that includes ME!) who drive GMC's. I specifically said "Chevy trucks". GMC markets to a whole different segment of the consumer market and it's a more upscale market.

Don't get me wrong, I like GM trucks. We now own a GMC and it's been a great truck. The last one I had ('72 Blazer) I drove for over 25 years then gave it to my son.

So, if you think my arm chair analysis of that particular CHEVY TRUCK ad is off base, please address that issue. Meanwhile, please unwind the knot from your panties before you get something important caught up in them. :)

I realize your on a troll mission. Chevy and GMC is the same truck up to chevy's weight limit. Only thing different is the nose and trim. Same running gear. Bubba likes GMC too.

You got me. I sort of was on a troll mission but am I really the only one who noticed the VERY obvious marketing that Chevy is doing with their trucks? Those guys sound like a bunch of Neanderthals sitting around grunting to each other over the discovery of fire.

BTW, I just saw a Chevy Traverse ad showing an upscale family at a very upscale home. Twern't no Bubba's in that ad. Must be only the pickups that are Bubba bound.

Actually, it's all kind of lost on me. I'm a Ford guy and have been most of my life. I think Ford builds a better truck than GM. The F150 has been the best-selling vehicle in America for what...40+ years?

Well...there's always Ford....

My last one was a Cummins.

As far as advertising goes, I'll buy whichever one has more fire and pulling impossibly huge objects up an imaginary ramp through FIRE and breaking through brick walls! More stuff being dropped into a bed from 10' high! spine shattering, kidney exploding offroad driving...yeah! That's how I handle my expensive truck...

Ain't nuthin' new there, Hoss (said in my best shuffling, bumbling redneck way). Take a look at the Lincoln ads as McConaughey shoots his cuffs. Look at the hipster metro-morons targeted by Yaris. Minivans for soccer-moms, and the list goes on. It is as it has always been.

Is it exclusion or targeted marketing?

If Bubbas are the ones spending $50k on trucks, and soccer moms are the ones spending $50k on SUVs, my primitive understanding of how to improve the bottom line says aiming commercials at your most likely buyers makes a lot of sense. Cost to maintain customers, or earn a customer who already has baseline interest, is lower than cost to earn customers well outside the mainstream audience.

Do you consider union members blue collar workers? Most of the union folk I know earn quite a bit more than some people estimate (in fact, they earn more than many white collar folk I know), and sink a good bit of that hard earned money into their everyday vehicles as well as leisure items like RVs, boats, etc.

trflgrl, speaking only for myself here, I don't believe belonging to a union (or not) has much to do with being considered a redneck. No one would even mistakenly call me a redneck and I belonged to a union for many years.

'yea boy'......(for those that have seen the commercials you may recognize this)......;)....

Didn't intend to equate blue collar with redneck; it was more a general "you" inspired by LTD.330's mention of marketing $50k trucks to blue collar workers.

GFC,

I'm with you. I traded in my trusty Silverado last June and moved on to a more whitebread Porsche Macan S........

Seriously though I had not noticed it, but you are right on the money as far as the actors in the Chevy ads. It may also be that the we have suceeded in converting American male into a bumbling buffoons.

Sorry just being being cranky on this cold winter day

Henry
