Boat runs over fishermen!

That is SCARY!!! Maintain lookout! It’s easy to become passive by the self driving nature of a boat and this is a reminder to stay off the phones and electronics!

Holy crap. Absolutely no excuse for that! Very lucky no one was killed. I hope they get every penny, and the guy in the other boat should never be allowed to drive a boat again. Never take your eyes off the water.

I can’t believe it didn’t kill the fisherman. They are super lucky.

Very good reaction by all three fisherman. Looks like he was moving fast with his bow pretty high. On the intracoastal I encounter fisherman all of the time smack dab in the middle of high speed channels. For that reason I always have my eyes on the water and a second pair of eyes most of the time from my wife. As stated above - no excuses for this.

Unfortunately, that’s a scenario I can see happening around here frequently. Especially on summer weekends when the water is more crowded.

For me it's usually the other way around.

I like staying out late and cruising back to the marina late at night or early morning and see bass boats zig zagging all over the place and some in the middle of the channel w/o lights on.

It's frustrating at times.

I'm surprised more boat to boat collisions don't occur around the chattanooga area.

That is crazy, talk about getting run over! - I've had bass boats come pretty close to me on LKN, close enough to hit me with their spray. Most of those guys are ok, but occasionally you get the SOB who has his 300hp metaflake Triton rocket and just wants to be the boss or too caught up in fishing to realize they don't own the lake. I just tell them they are #1 and stay out of their way.

Sounds like the cruiser's captain was honest: "Larsen told investigators he couldn’t see where he was driving since he was sitting down. Larsen, who uses a motorized scooter on land, admitted that he probably should’ve been standing at the time, according to a sheriff’s report obtained by the Oregonian."

Hopefully that will be a slam dunk for the prosecutor in criminal court and the plaintiff(s) in civil court.

I agree completely that the boat driver in the video is to blame. But I also agree with Little Ducky as well. Many times I have encountered multiple fishing boats anchored in the channel with no lights (crowding around "hot" fishing spots). Sometimes there's no where for me to go and stay within the channel. And I'm also having to figure this out with some boats not having lights on.

It takes effort from everyone to make sure we share the water safely.

I have to say, there are a lot of nit-wit fishermen that anchor in the Merrimack River channel. Boy, do they get pissed when a 30-45 footer blasts by them. The harbor master is always telling them to get out of the channel. It's a full time job, dealing with those jackasses.

Took my 12 year old nephew for his boater safety certification Sat morning and that video was one of the "what not to do" examples they used.
