I thought I had posted the outcome of dash upgrade #2 but I didn't see it. Started like this

I'm working on finishing a bench seat back/ head rest with the same metal work built into the back of the headrest. I hope to be pushing along on a new top next week.

Ya I was hoping no one would notice that. My hands shake reeely bad. I didn't know it was that obvious. No expanded on it, it's oval perforated aluminum with a tight woven wire mesh behind. I'm thinking about pullen it out and putting back in the nice luxurious looking black plastic dash with the little white 1/4" square grid work on it. Or maybe I could put some fake wood on there. Hmm

The brushed aluminum frame with the roughed edges has a kind of "hot rod" look to it that probably appeals to some. It might look good on a customized go fast type of boat, but IMO looks a bit out of place on an older Sea Ray. It does not look bad, just out of place with the more traditional rest of the dash. BUt beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and its your boat after all.

Maybe if the rest of the helm area was repainted to get rid of the burgundy, and some other brushed aluminum complimentary parts were added, you might have an interesting look. But again, it may not appeal to everyone.

That's whats nice about having an older boat. You can do what ever you want.

And if it doesn't turn out..... change it up again.

I have a 98 290 DA and have some cracking around the gauges as well as the screws holding everything in so you are giving me some ideas on how to jazz up mine.

Keep us updated on the project.
