410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

They should be 4-blade 22x23 nibrals. I’ve heard people drop down to 22x22 and add some cup, but I think that either work as long as your max RPM is within spec. But I don’t think those 21x19 3-blades are something you would want to run on your boat.

I know on mine I have 22x23's but I have the 7.4's.

They should be 4-blade 22x23 nibrals.

Something is amiss: we’re talking about the same props for gas and diesel.

I wish I knew what mine are. I had them scanned once a long time ago, but I don’t remember the specs.

Roller i would think yours are probably the same as mine. I dont think those 21x19's would work either. The reason I know what mine are is because I had my starboard shaft break 3 months after I bought the boat in 2016. It broke between the strut and the prop so I lost the prop. New shaft, new 22x23 nibral, scan and match old prop and labor equals 5k. Thank goodness for insurance. That's why I had that pretty shiny picture, hope I don't get to take another one.;)

Thanks guys. Owners manual and model archives don't cover this. Mine are four blade. Worth a look but these aren't going to work.

So there's a nice 400DA starboard prop laying somewhere on the bottom of the giant puddle we call LSC, eh? Happen to remember the co-ordinates? :D

Funny story (Now). We were meeting a bunch of friends in Big Moot by the culvert. I come in past the lighthouses almost all the way to the culvert and then come off plane, idle up to the group and the wife throws a line from the bow to my buddy on his bow. I reverse the port engine to stop and kinda push the aft the right way, go to neutral and shut down. I came in so smooth you would think I do it twice a week;)maybe more. We hang out for a few hours and when we get ready to leave I tell everyone to go ahead and pull off and I'll pull anchor and head out last. So when I go to leave I put starboard in forward to grab the anchor and I don't move. I tell the wife I think the cable or something either broke or came loose on the trans. I raise the hatch go below and everything is fine. Back to the helm, ports fine, shifter seems fine, what the heck???? I look at the wife and say I think the F$#&%÷&$ prop fell off, she says how the hell can a prop fall off and I say I don't know but everything else is working. Put on the goggles, jump in, go down, come back up and say I was right the F $#&%÷&$ prop fell off. After checking better I see the shaft broke between the strut and prop so no water coming in. After replaying everything I never used the starboard when pulling up to tie off. So to answer your question on where at. Somewhere in Big Moot towards the culvert. All my buddies came back and helped me look around and we've done it a couple time since with no luck. Hopefully someone finds it that can use it. Them things are expensive. ..:D

Wow - you'd think a break like that would be a more dramatic event.

I have co-workers with a similar story, also in the Moot. They lost their single screw from from an old Chris cruiser when he engaged reverse. They swam around and found it, but the guy who found it was so ticked about an apparently loose prop nut, that when he lifted it up, he tossed it toward his buddy. They figure that it somehow "side-winded" from the throw - they never found it again!

I haven't spent a lot of time looking, but in a couple of brief attempts, I have not located a drain for the integrated fender locker on my 400. Is there one? Has anyone installed one? Seems like there should be several to keep water out and not sitting in the bottom.

Here is a picture of the prop hub on my 99 400 with 3116s.

My 2000 410 with GAS ENGINES (couldn't resist that) have Hy Torq 21x21 NI M-Cup. EZ Steps I know the exact spot you mean, I will look there when the ice breaks for your prop. Where did you get the replacement shaft and prop?

Hello Brian how you been? Been to Lexington lately?:) I have a mechanic I know out of Algonac and he had Henry H. Smith's in Algonac do everything I believe. I know the shaft and scanning were done there. That happened in 2016. I believe it was about 2 weeks before we ran into each other in Lexington if you remember that. We went south to Cedar Point and Kelly's Island in 2017. We also went to Grand Bend but we rode with our dock neighbors on there boat. Actually they were with us in Lexington, he had the 400DB right behind you. Hope it warms up soon and maybe we'll see you this summer.

Oh I remember! Can't wait to hit the water this spring! Only 13 weeks till we go in. The joys of living in the frozen north!

My target date looks to be 12 weeks and 2 days away. Sometimes it seems like this winter will never end. It only gets worse when I go visit the boat and crawl through the shrinkwrap door. Just reminds me of how much I miss it.

At the end of last season, we were getting a small amount of water in the forward floor hatch after being underway. I know it's not the water pump as it only happens while we are underway. Any ideas for places the leak could be? I'd like to investigate before going back in the water.

I get that when the condensate tray is full. Dust and debris in the line can slow it down. Even when it's as clean as I can get it, the stupid drain points to port, not aft, so spill-overs are almost inevitable.

If by condensate tray you mean the A/C condensate, on my boat each A/C unit drains into the shower sump boxes. These boxes are in the aft floor hatches. I'm getting water in the forward hatch. The water pump is in this hatch (in the forward stateroom) but there is no leak except after we've been underway, so I know it's not the water pump.

Assuming you are talking about fresh water:
Maybe the drain for the AC drip pan is clogged enough to make it a slow drainer leaving some residual water in the tray and when you are underway it slips out of the tray?
That tray should stay drained and not have standing water in it.
That should be easy enough to check and clear if needed.
If that’s not the problem:
Then the only other fresh water up there that would only leak when underway is a leak in the fresh water tank that is high up on the tank. When the bow rises, so does the front of the tank causing the water in an almost full tank to all push against the aft end of the tank. Can you run the tank down to half full and give it a try?

I'm not sure where the water is coming from. We are in fresh water lakes so I can't distinguish. I thought of the water holding tank and did what you said, and still got water.
Where is the AC drip pan? I'm only aware of the hose that takes the condensation from the AC units to the shower sump boxes and those are in the aft floor hatch. My issue is in th forward floor hatch.

I think what folks are recommending is that you check the ac unit under your front v berth. It sits in a tray that holds condensate and has a drain tube that is supposed to flow into your sumps toward the rear of the cabin. A lot of times that condensate tube gets clogged and you will collect water in that tray built into the bottom of your ac unit. When the boat moves the water sloshes out and winds up seeping into that front storage compartment.
