Good morning and welcome to CSR.

I hope you have had boats before and love DIY'ing or your fixer-upper might just push you over the edge.

With a nicely charged battery and a set of engine muff's connected to the outdrive to supply water you should be ready to give the motor a run.

When was the last time the boat was in the water and running? If it's been a few years you might want to do some maintenance checks and even do some fluid changes (oil etc) before trying to start it up.

Good luck.

welcome... lots of good helpful folks here!

LOL thanks, nope first boat as an adult. My Dad had one back in the day but I was 15-16 when he sold it so no real maintenance experience but I'm optimistic and ready to jump in head first.

Please wear a life jacket before you jump. ;)

I would look online for the same boat and see what they are selling at in various conditions and just keep the money factor in mind as you work on getting this boat ship shape.

Hows the cabin? Dry, no Mold I hope. Mold can kill a fixer-upper petty quick.

Forgot to mention that previous owner stated that it hadn't ran in about 5 years, but everything seems to be in place

Welcome to CSR.
5 years is a bit to be sitting. Judging by the photo of the engine in your other post, it has been exposed to the elements. Probably a good idea to pull all the plugs. Check their condition to see if any rust is present. Spray a bit of light oil in all cylinders and try to spin it over. Outdrives need their legs lowered as well while cranking the engine over to protect their u-joint and bellows. Search/post in the gas engine/drive section and you will get more hits on this.

Welcome to the forum (and boating for that matter)! Hope you stick around and create a new thread on the restoration of this boat. Lots of helpful folks would be happy to offer assistance here, and also would be really interested to watch your progress on this! (myself included). Good luck!

....update?
