My daily driver is MB 450 GL. The ZR1 is my warm weather fun car.

Tell us what it is. Replica?
Yes, it’s a replica of a 1955 Porsche 550. There we 90 originals made. The photos are from a magazine shoot a few months ago. It weighs 1500 lbs. and has a 250hp turbo engine it.

Very nice. It must scoot along. Do you track it?

I'd imagine there's a very limited amount of organizations that'll allow you track it with it's lack of roll-over protection. The groups I run with have pretty strict rules for convertibles.

BTW, it's a super cool car. I'll love to cruise around in it.

I have not tracked it. It has extremely narrow tires, which is period correct, but not a lot of traction. I use it mostly to drive the canyon roads and PCH, by the ocean.

It is definitely quick and has a ton of torque. It can bark the tires in all 4 gears. The original was 100 hp, so it is definitely over powered.

Michigan has vintage car races for cars like this and the 356 and newer models. Amazes me that collectors risk their prize cars on tracks. Porsche owners are a little bit unique I'm learning.

View attachment 52235 This is the first TT I bought, front wheel drive, manual transmission, 180HP. It had just been introduced at the car shows in Europe and caused quite a stir due to its ground breaking design and high quality interrior. I believe Audi was selling just 140 TTs/month in the US in 2017
Yeah, I got heavily involved in these cars when they first hit here in early 99. Got to drive one of the hot weather test mules in July 98, went to school on them in 99, and ended up going to all of the big east and weat coast gatherings for the first 4 years or so. Didn't own one myself until 2012. That was an 01 225 coupe in denim blue with a bunch of mods. Loved that car.

....snip.....bunch of 550 pics....
250 hp in this has to be nuts. I sold some Beck Speedsters back in the day, but the strongest one I remember was a 150-160hp 2160cc car. Very cool

The 225 Quattro cars were very nice. I owned several with a 3.2 six cylinder in the middle somewhere. The first TT I ever drove was a coupe which is a nice car. Really just tried it out to see if a 6'3" person would fit. No issues so that was the start of buying roadsters. The last one was the 2017. Unfortunately Audi stopped selling the TTS Roadster in the USA due to regulatory red tape. I owned the car for just 3,000 miles and sold it to a friend and ordered the Porsche. Already thinking about my next order. Loving the car.

Swapped cars around, now have a 6.5” lifted GMC loaded up on 22x12s, and 35s, for work stuff or pulling ski, and sold my 417 striker c6, got a c7. Just finished cam swap, headers, DOD delete.

IMG_5053.jpg IMG_5052.jpg IMG_5054.jpg I enjoyed scrolling through this thread! I have two obsessions in the car world and that's Land Rovers (Painfully expensive obsession) and Corvettes. Current toys are a supercharged Range Rover (hell of a lot faster than you might think) and a SL500 (A lil slower than you might think but corners pretty fantastically well). I usually always have a Corvette on me but I just sold my last one, a 1971, to a guy in Germany. Looking for a ZR1 for my next Vette!

An early TT 225 of mine. These cars were tanks in snow with Blizzaks. Never felt unsafe driving them.

How do you like the G wagon??

Very happy with it, of course is not a sedan. Bouncy ride....but I guess is her personality. Like the fit and finishes, feels very solid, and nice engine sound.

New one now coming up 2019, supposed to be more refined in the interior and couple inches longer.
