Awlgrip or other hull paint feedback and recommendations

This is the complete opposite of what I’ve heard Alexseal is more repairable of all the major coatings and as I stated the boatyard that painted our boat uses most of them but most customers ask for Alexseal. I did speak with a rep from Alexseal at FLIBS and he stated 10 years is not uncommon.
A lot of big yacht builders have switched to Alexseal.

I'm just starting with my first painted boat. The Imron paint on the boat is almost 14 years old, and looks like it was painted last week. I imagine spending half its life in a covered slip, and the other half stored indoors during the winter has significantly contributed to its longevity and present appearance.

It will be in the water year round for us, and if all goes as planned - it will save two haul outs per year for wax, and $20/ft each time it would have needed to be waxed. Those costs work out to about $2600 annually, or in my happy world - my first 750 gallons of fuel annually are on the house. Ya, ya - I know - but it sounds good...:)

When you get near her....the only difference between the paint and a mirror is the fact its black paint. The mirror reflection is stunning. She'll be in a covered slip here, and hopefully her appearance continues. I'm going to really like not having the same colored hull as 99% of the boats in our area.

Beautiful boat, best of luck I bet your excited? Our 36 dB has a 10year old Imron black paint job and I see it at our marina and it looks as good as the day it was painted.
We just had this boat painted and the Alexseal rep at the boat show told me you’ll get at least 10years with proper care.
Here’s our 500 in the booth in September

Thank you, yes - very excited.

Your boat looks phenomenal! I love the shine and depth in a properly painted hull, they really stick out of the crowd.

I was told that fender covers are a must! And you must wash rinse them weekly to wash out sand/salt. I didn’t have the covers yet when I picked up the boat and just sitting at the gas dock my fenders left a gummy Mark that I needed to remove. Maine coast marine products

That boat looks fantastic... Love the shine.

I was very happy with the Awl Grip when I had it.

We are changing out fender colors and decided to use covers. Everything I have read says they are better for any type of finish.

I agree. Those pics are of her in the slip of the previous owner. Fortunately it was a wide slip and the boat was dialed in so the fenders didn't make contact. I have all new, properly sized fenders on their way - each with a fender cover. Don't want to risk marring paint or causing any hassles.
