480 DB Owners Club

You may need to have someone rework the hatch. Meaning open it up and redoing the middle of the hatch. Probably has become weak from years of weight on it. Just my 2 cents. Maybe other's will also chime in.

welcome aboard. I don't know of a way to strengthen unless you can glass in some braces on the backside. You would have to remove and basically build in stringers for it. I wonder if the old flounder pounder would have the part or have someone fabricate for you.

Anybody know the part number or supplier for the S/S strainer basket for the main CAT engines. Groco, Parker Hanna or other. It would save me the time of researching it. Figure someone has replaced them before. Thanks and Happy Holidays. Chris

This is posted elsewhere but since it's related to our boats, I added it here.

"Well, It's not finished yet but close to done. Still have to add the CAT diagnostics monitoring and systems monitoring displays. But most is Garmin including 8212's and GMR424 radar which is a 4 ft. open array."

That’s fantastic and looks expensive !

Dang Chris, that helm does look great. Thank good ness you are a friend or I would hate you for this...now I need to think of rebuilding mine.

Does anybody know where the original bridge amp (APX400) wiring is fused? I don't see anything on the schematics or have any breakers/fuses labeled that way.

Mine use to be on the Ray Marine/Raytheon fuse panel located behind the AC under my helm. It would of been STBD/FWD under the helm attached to the FWD bulkhead. Access was hell with the AC there so I redesigned and moved everything to the small panel amid-ship of our helm. The stereo was on a circuit breaker in that small panel.
Your 480 being newer, might be elsewhere.

Found it, they piggy backed onto the 25A stereo fuse on the helm flip out fuse panel.

Has anybody removed the slide out couch? I see the fuel sender access panel underneath but can't get to it with the couch installed. I think removing either the top or bottom cushion will work. I used to be able to reach behind the top cushion on my 380DA and unscrew the wingnuts. The 480's couch is not installed that way.

I positioned the couch to the flat/sleep position. I removed the front cushion by removing the 6 screws that held it in place from underneath. That gave me access to the angle brackets behind the couches front panel that hold it down to the floor. Also need to unhook the power to the motor and possibly your rope lights.
However, Mquiet just removed his and it was installed differently than mine and, we are the same model year.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, it looks like I can get to 4 out of the 6 screws easily. Not impossible but the last 2 will be fun to get out and back in.

QT, lay the couch flat and remove the drawer. Inside you should see L-brackets holding couch to the floor. I r moved those and slid couch out. Slightly different than cherman.
