A code for cylinder misfire or coil circuit (primary/secondary) code?
Sounds like it possibly failed coil stress test if your guy has that equipment. Odd that it is not setting any codes if it is in fact an electrical or electronic problem.
What do you guys think about the fuel pumps? I don't mind spending the money if I need to but don't particularly want to spend it just for grins either.
I'm definitely doing the regulator and injector part of the quote. The only thing I'm questioning is the additional fuel pumps
i wouldnt do the pumps.....they are "before" the point at which the cover delaminates....that is the problem....the flaking cover is after the pumps and the filters.....it clogs the attached regulator (the one on the fuel rail is a "dummy") and in extreme cases it continues up the rail and into the injectors - really has nothing to do with the lift or high pressure pumps.....I'm definitely doing the regulator and injector part of the quote. The only thing I'm questioning is the additional fuel pumps
Thanks. That's my feeling at this point. Worst case I'm wrong and out an additional $400.
How difficult is it to swap that #5 coil with one on the other motor and go for a test ride?
I bought my set of fuel pumps (high pressure and low pressure) for one engine for $500 couple years back from an online mercury distributor. Part numbers were.
quicksilver 866169t01
quicksilver 866170a01
You'd have to validate part numbers for your S/N's engines....
