No boat....no engines
This past Saturday I lost my best Bud. We took our 11-year old Ridgeback, Kona, to the vet as something was just off. An examination and chest x-rays revealed a chest cavity filled with cancer. The vet didn't think he would have lasted the week. With my wife and I hugging him we had him put to sleep.

He was always a boat dog even as a pup as seen here with his big sister.

He didn't care much for rough water but slow speed cruising was just his style....

He loved the move to Louisiana as he now had 3/4 acre to roam and run in with plenty of squirrels to chase.

This dog loved to run and 2 weeks ago we had weather in the high 70s and he got to go out and run like crazy....even at 11 years old. I think that was his "last best day." But really for Kona, his best day was any day just being with me. Man, am I going to miss him.

Shawn

So very sorry Shawn. I feel your pain. Our animals are part of our family. Rest easy Kona. :(

Tough thing to go through - we put our 13 year old Lab down after a cancer diagnosis as well

Very sorry to hear - we lost our 13yr old Pug Chester to cancer last year - making that decision was about the hardest thing I have done in years. Not ashamed to say I loved that little dog and just cried like a baby. I still sit down in my chair some nights and for a minute expect him to come jump in wiggle himself some room. Kona looks like he was a happy guy, I know you will miss him.

Sorry for you're loss, we love our pets also, sometimes my wife and I wonder if we are crazy we spoil them so much but we just love them..Kona was lucky to have you guys as you were also lucky to have him. Hang in there pal I know there will be some rough days ahead,You guys gave him a great life I'm sure...

Very sad news as pets are just as much part of the family. However I hope the fond memories will bring you happiness in the future.

What a tough time! Glad he was able to bring joy to you and you to him.

That really sucks, I know the feeling. Sorry to hear it.

So sorry to hear. We have gone through a loss before, very difficult.

Everyone is right - that little 5.5 lbs fluff ball we have is part of our family.

So sorry for your loss. They really are a core part our our families and the loss of a friend like that is gut wrenching. Hope that you can keep reflecting on the lifetime great memories you shared with your best friend knowing you gave him a great life.

Shawn, I am very sorry for your loss. Our little man Odie turns 12 next month....

So very sorry. They expect so little, yet bring so much joy and companionship.

The difference between a wife and a dog is you could lock your dog in the trunk of the car for 3 hours and when you opened it he would be thrilled to see you.

I hope that made you smile a little at a rough time.

I'm sorry for your loss. A year ago we had to put our two Pugs down due to medical issues in both of them. Healing takes time so let it happen.

That did make me smile.... Thanks

Definitely sorry for your loss. Our dog is an intricate part of our lives

Sorry to hear man. He's running free and happy forever now!
My parents have a Chihuahua and hes getting up there. Not easy to think they don't live forever.
