for those who've gone to hardwood / laminate / teak/ etc in place of the OEM cabin carpet, I'd like to hear your story and whether you'd go the same route again as far as material and maybe some lessons learned along the way. Our 98 290 has a small piece of cabin floor that I'm thinking about ripping the carpet up in.

I like engineering vinyl planking, but given the unlevel surface I know that's going to be a pain. There is also not a sharp edge on one side so I would have to transition to carpet in front of the galley.

The Faux teak such as eva foam and lonseal are also appealing since they are flexible and could conform to the floor.

So, what did you do and what would you do different the second time around? Here's our cabin. I would do the main sole and that second step down that currently has carpet. You can see what I mean in front of the galley, the carpet goes up a slope

Rip it out and glue or snap in Infinity woven vinyl. Or perhaps replace the runner with a "snap over"

piece of Infinity.

Quint 4- How can I get a sample of this product(2"by 2"), or somewhere I can see comparable. This is totally impervious to elements?

Very nice. Care to share costs and details on how you did it. IE self or contractor installation.

I am a long time boater and started a Marine canvas business 6 years ago. I attended canvas schools in Florida and Ohio (Great Lakes area).
A few years ago I discovered Infinity woven PVC flooring while at the Louisville boat show. I had long been searching for the perfect replacement for my carpets. I contacted Infinity and became a dealer for the product. I did my boat as my "tester" and the rest is history. I have done over 60 boats in Infinity and it has been a great addition to my business.
Infinity is very popular and is offered OEM by Sea Ray , Tiara, and many others.
My margins are slim as my costs for rolls are not cheap. I shy away from putting prices up here because as you know, prices change over time. Lets say it's more expensive than carpet and cheaper than SeaDek (a great product also by the way).
It does get very warm in direct sunlight but it's not a deal breaker. It is a PVC weave with blown PVC backing so very durable and UV stable. It is inherently antimicrobial, as it is a poor host for algea and the like. It does not absorb water so it dries very quickly.
Infinity featured me in their 2017 advertising campaign:
