Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

Mine is the same. It is just plugged into a outlet behind the fridge.

T, I did find a unit that fits the cut out, a NovaKool out of Canada. I also decided to see if my old unit could be fixed somehow. Whit the help of a slip neighbor we found that the AC to DC switch had go bad in the power pack. We cleaned the board and replaced the switch. It's working as if was brand new again. I cancelled my order and saved $845.00.
Nice!!!

Does anyone have part number/source for the fluid reservoir for the trim units on the 5.7 stern drives? Our port side had been losing fluid, and we finally discovered it's coming out the seam in the plastic where the top and bottom join together. It looks like we can unbolt the whole unit, unseat the reservoir, and replace with new....am hoping it's that easy.

Photo of ours attached; visually it seems to match this: https://www.wholesalemarine.com/sie...MI4tjKxpGo1gIVEweGCh3EpQJtEAQYBCABEgIAi_D_BwE

T, try posting the question in the tab Fourm. The is a gentalman there that works for Bennett and he has always had the answers

If I remember correctly the 110 side of my original fridge on my 300 was just plugged in to a regular receptacle that was mounted under the counter behind the fridge, and the 12 volt side was hard wired.
Thanks JVM225 and Trflgrl for the info.

I'm sorry if I missed this in this thread somewhere. I'm looking to add a windlass and I'm considering a Lewmar Pro 700. I'm not sure if this is a vertical or horizontal and frankly, don't know what the difference is? I'm guessing it's the orientation of the capstan as a guess. Anybody installed one on an old 300 DA?? Were the wires already in there or did you snake them from the battery compartment, along the right side up to the anchor compartment? I've looked at it and that seems fairly straight forward. Where did you anchor the windlass? Behind the hatch towards the cabin? I think some even have put them in the anchor hatch closing it permanently. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it! Did you eliminate the free fall for the rode or keep that as well?

Horizontal or vertical describes the direction of the axis....the ProFish 700 is horizontal--its rotation is vertical around a horizontal axis. I have a horizontal Lewmar ProFish as well, forward of the anchor locker mounted to the wooden bow pulpit. The rode drops through the pulpit/deck, and the locker hatch remains functional. It has the free fall feature and we're ok with that....though once in a while it's annoying if the chain hangs and we need to let it out to clear the problem, because if you don't pay attention, there goes the whole thing!!! Typically there are two of us, so perhaps less annoying than for those operating solo.

What we don't have that would be nice is controls at the unit--maybe think about whether that would be useful for you before you decide on what model.

I'm no help with the wiring question, though, as it was already installed when I purchased.

I figured controls at the helm and on the bow would be useful. Are you using all chain or chain/rode combo? I'm thinking all chain, but realize that is a chunk of money as well. Just trying to make it trouble free and I hear lots of issues about the rope portion.

I would suggest you tie off the bitter end in the locker with enough rope that you can pull it and cut it if necessary!

I attached a galvanized plate to the bow eye threads and a clevis to the other end of it and attached the bitter end of the rode to that plate so that I cannot accidentally loose the rode. Simple, easy and its effective.

Look at post 2830 in this forum, it has a few pics of my install.

I have just purchased my first Sea Ray. It’s a 1988 300 Sundancer with the twin 5.7 Mercruisers and the alpha outdrives. I need some help. The throttle controls have broke and need replaced. I also want to replace cables as well but unsure of which one I need. If anyone has replaced them, please let me know a part number or best place to find out.

Here is the link to the install of the windlass that I installed on my 1988 300 DA.

Been away a long time! I have a lot of reading to catch up on. I still have my '89 300 Weekender.

If you have done any upgrades on your Weekender, please share them! Thanks.

Compiled this list from my winterization notes this year. It's my winterization checklist, with parts, materials and tools required for each step. This is not a "how to" for each step; it simply lists each step with what you need to have on hand to do the job. My boat is a '89 Sundancer with twin 5.7 alpha drives. If anyone can use it, hope it helps. If anyone has feedback, I welcome that too. After I'm done with the list, I tell the Marina to go ahead and shrink wrap the boat.

I wanted a tv my girls could see from the salon berth. So I have a 27" in the same location your thinking of on a Z mount. I use a Velcro strip to keep it in place while underway. The antenna thing is a problem for me. I'm under a metal roof. I use a Image antenna that works sorta. My neighbor took one of the old pancake antennas and modified it, then placed his Image in it, I worked out great for him.
I realize this was from a post a year ago, but do you have any pics of your flat screen? I was set on a 24" until I revisited your post.

I'm going to the boat after work tomorrow and will be happy to send you some

Thank you very much. If the pics wont post here, will gladly provide an email address.

Not at boat and trying to finish up parts order....does anyone have WIX/Sierra part numbers for the fuel filters off the tanks? The ones in the aft corners of the ER? (And if there's something else I should be calling them, by all means set me straight!)

I have WIX33225/Sierra 18-7844 for the engine fuel filter, and thought I had the part number stowed somewhere for the other one, but just can't find it and can't remember if they were the same.

TIA!!

My 87 300 Sundancer had the Fram replaceable cartridges.
If your is the same:
The Fram number was C1110PL. I think the Sierra number is 18-7930. WIX number looks to be 33110.

QT' I never got time away from work. I will get the pics tomorrow morning before I go to work.

Send me a text in the morning and I will send the pics to your phone or email me and I will send them from the iPad
