Hi. Looking to purchase Spx 210 stern drive, wanted to know what other owners found good and not so good. Will be used for water ski, wakeboard, kneeboard, foiling and fishing. All activities. And interested to know how handles in big seas. Say a good 3 foot chop.

I purchased a new leftover 2016 21 SPX I/O in March at the boat show. The boat runs great, handles well and can easily pull water skis. It is much better in the ocean than my old Sea Ray 182. It can handle a 3 ft chop fine as long as you match your speed to the conditions. The only thing I do not like about the boat is the rake of the windshield. I am tall...about 6-3. The top frame of the windshield is right at my eye level. I can't get my head low enough to see straight through the windshield. I have to sit up straight to see over the frame. This is very annoying. Otherwise, I love the boat.

Thanks. Say how do u find the way the passenger seat as the pull out back rest. Looks a bit flimsy or is it fine

With only 5 hours on mine, I really can't offer much experience but we love it so far.

ours didn't come with that weird passenger seat. ours came with one that hinges between forward and rear facing. I haven't seen this option in the catalog, but they do make it. I'll post a photo of it when I get back to town.

I have a 2016 21SPX I/O. This is my first boat purchase. I am very happy with performance and space on the boat. I’ve had 8 on it comfortably with plenty of room still left. Lots of storage. The built in ice chest is convenient. I agree the line of site for a taller person is a pain. I’m 6’1. The flip up bolster helps.
Go with the upgrade for the decking. The snap in carpet gets very hot.

i purchases a used searay 205 with the 5.0 MPI, note fuel injected V8. Boat is a beast, in fact to fast with standard prop so I changed to High Five. Doesn't matter if I have 8 people or 1 it tops out at 55 mph and planes in seconds not to mention stays on a plan at very low speed. Its a real stump puller. They are hard to find but if you can you might want to check it out. With stock prop boat would hit 58 mph and feel like you were on "black ice" at times. So odd to find an overpowered boat these days

Congratulations on the new boat. Nice to see another 205 owner. I have a 09 with the 305 carb. The MPI's from that era are hard to find. I'm happy with the 50+ mph performance. I can't imagine pushing 60 with this boat. BTW there is an old 205 thread out there. This weekend I'm starting a small project to add a fiddle( I think it's called) to the top of the built in cooler lid. People keep putting drinks on the lid and any small wake makes them slide off. Cranberry on the carpet is not cool!

We have a fairly choppy bay here locally, customers have given us positive feedback about the ride quality and how dry running the SPX boats have been in the field. The layout and quality of the boats make them worth the small premium over the competitors boats for sure, Sea Ray has a stellar warranty as well. The 4.5 V6 Mercuiser makes the boat a rocket ship so it will be great for water sports. We have seen some mold issues with cushions so check the boat your buying thoroughly at time of purchase and make sure its noted for warranty replacement if any cushions are found moldy. Opted for the second seat on the passenger side as the basic lounger is not very functional. You can not go wrong with this boat and will enjoy it a lot!
