Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

My trailer came from the factory with those retractable tie downs and found them to be quite handy. No more looking for straps. My trailer has been in the water a dozen times this year and they seem to be holding up good, still work like new. Will have to see if they need some TLC after a couple years.

Anyone seen the new 230SPX? I had no idea these were coming out, but my local dealer has three! Looks like the biggest change is a head compartment. The SPX line must be a success if they are expanding it.

Very nice. In addition to the head they also have a submersible swim step, table options, bow filler cushions and a flip up/down extendible aft sunpad. Did you happen to see a list price?

Could anyone with a 190spx with a 150 ob tell me what holes there motor is mounted thru.. Thank you

I am not near the boat till Thursday but I am curious why you ask. Bridog said his motor is mounted too low, are you having the same concern?

Another owner has issues with the prop coming out of the water with very little trim below 4000 rpms. His motor is the same setup as mine set at the same height. My dealer assures me that mine is correct. Anything above an 1/8 on the trim gauge at under 4000 rpms I am experiencing the prop out of the water also.

According to the service bulletin I received it stated " install the motor mount by aligning the 4th hole from the top on each side of the motor mount with the top set of existing holes in the transom"...Mine has not been changed yet so it sits slightly lower in the water. SR states it's not a safety concern but should improve performance. Since my performance is VERY good and I don't suffer from the trim issues others have had, I believe I'll stick with mine as is. My top end is 48MPH lightly loaded which is a lot faster than I feel comfortable going in this boat. (But I've become pretty lame in my old age)

Thank you for that response. That is exactly where mine is mounted I hit 52mph on the gps wot and scared the family( I am not allowed to do that again). So then I am good. I personally have no problem with the trim but I always have a light load..I have that problem with my bilge pump miss wired but I am not concerned because I don't leave it in the water. I will mention it when I bring it in for the end of the season service. Thank you again

52? Dang that's fast. My dealer (Marine Max) mentioned that the lower engine position would probably decrease top end but would improve time to plane. Either way the boat is a great ride and lots of fun. Very happy with it!

I try to stay more between 30 and 40. I use marine max as well, my second boat that I purchased from them. I find the staff there helpful and informative. Very pleased with the boat as well.

Brand new owner of a 21SPX here. The dealer was wanting to clear the 17s out of his showroom to make room for the 18s and I decided to help him out. We struck a deal and she came home with me Saturday.

Only had it out this past weekend, with only 5 hours on the engine, I haven't cranked it up to full throttle yet, but I'm getting great performance out of the 200HP engine. Glad I didn't shell out the extra $$ for the 250, this boat is plenty fast enough for me.

So far, so good. No complaints and no regrets. Yet.

Here is my 21 SPX with additional SeaDek. I created my own templates for these positions.

SCJeep, hello (hope and trust you and yours made it through the last string of storms without so much as a hiccup)!

QUESTION: is the flooring on your cockpit deck in the above photo the Sea Ray option described on their “Build Your Own Sea Ray” web page as: “Flooring, Cockpit Upgrade, Infinity Woven”.

AND, IF SO, 2nd QUESTION: Am I correct in presuming it is the “Sahara” color option?

The reason I ask is, the sheer impact of how good the faux teak looks in your photo had my wife and I contemplating running the Sea Dek across the ENTIRE cockpit deck (including where your pic appears to use the factory “woven” flooring and not just the swim deck, transom and steps, etc.); HOWEVER; communication challenges with our local Sea Dek installer have turned out to be fortuitous in giving me time to “think twice” about the advisability of semi-permanently affixing ANY adhesive-backed flooring to the fiberglass deck of the cockpit ...

No doubt about it, “my gut” tells me it will be in our best interest to go with a cockpit flooring that allows me to remove it easily (or replace it easily, when wear and tear etc make replacing it necessary).

Thanks in advance for clarifying for me whatever snap-in flooring option that is you have on the cockpit deck in the attached pic — I am pretty confident that is pretty much what we want, at least until we can gather more info on all the myriad of after-market flooring options out there!

PS - I don’t know if you’re aware of how much of a “ripple” your photo is making but, I am confident when I say your posted pic has been VERY good for SeaDek’s business, since you posted it!

Can anyone tell me if the SPX 190’s all leave the factory with carpet “snaps” affixed to the cockpit floor / decking?
— And, even if the original order did not include any flooring options, at all?

This is a follow up question to the 2 more specific I just posed to member SCJeep ...

Background: fortunately or unfortunately (?) when we ordered our 2018 190 in August I told the dealer to “hold off” on any factory flooring option while we waited to get an actual estimate from our local SeaDek installer, for faux teak across the entire cockpit deck. (We are definitely going to have the SeaDek faux teak installed on the swim deck, transom and stairs after the boat is delivered to the dealer.)

We just got word our boat will be in within 2 weeks or so and a written estimate from the SeaDek rep never materialized for the entire cockpit deck so, looks as if our boat will be delivered WITHOUT ANY FLOORING or anything.

Not the end of the world but, I am tempted to ask the dealer if it isn’t too late to have the factory toss the “Infinity Woven” flooring into the boat.

(Personally, I like the idea of a “white” cockpit floor (easy to clean, etc.!) but, the Admiral insists we need some flooring (even if we both agree we do NOT want actual “carpeting” which holds onto water, becomes and stays water-logged, soaked, etc.)

Thanks in advance!

(I realize this may appear as “much adieux” over flooring but, in my own defense, all this would’ve been much easier if either the dealer had had some actual flooring samples to show us (they did not) OR the Sea Ray website went into a little more detailed (and closer up) illustrations as to just what their two factory flooring options actually consist of, etc.

My boat came with no flooring and had no snaps installed from the factory. It is just clean non skid. It came with the Seadek option on the swim platform and we liked it so much we added Seadek to all the other elevated surfaces. So the only place with no flooring is the cockpit floor. I did this because we use the boat mostly for water sports and I wanted it to dry out as quickly as possible and be able to just hose out the cockpit after a trip.

Hi, Jeremy!

Well, that describes us to a tee!

AND (more importantly!) I just shared your well written response with my Admiral and, it is simply AMAZING (to me) how I can state something and she just rolls her eyes and yet when another sailor says the exact same thing she actually takes it under advisement.

Lawdy, lawdy, I have no way of knowing if we shall ever meet but, if we do, I OWE YOU A COLD DRINK, SIR!!! :) :p

Glad I could help. I bought the Seadek pieces directly from the manufacturer and they were very easy to deal with. They already had the patterns for the pieces I wanted (thanks to Bridog) so it just a matter of ordering them and waiting about 3-4 weeks.
