Official 330 Sundancer Thread

tackled the switch panel this weekend.... what a PITA. but again , well worth the result. now with the addition of the stailess wheel , she really looks up to date. only suffered one mistaken wire... on the ventshade switch. it went up , but wouldn't come down, I switched two wires and that was it. while I was in there I installed the backlighting inverter and strip lights from FP. such a nice result. swapped out the trim tab bezel for the new burlwood , only thing left is the breaker panel which should be a relative breeze.

Another route is to use a 10 inch or larger tablet with Navionics software. Get a tablet mount off eBay for 15-20 bucks. Have an older radar and chartplotter which I don't use Much Anymore the tablet is very fast portable and you can move the screen in any position you want with the mount as to reduce glare. Navionics software is inexpensive and works great. You're always getting updates and only is about $60 to start out with for US and Canada. Navionics also has autorouting right now which is a great feature. In addition to everything else you can use your tablet for music email whatever you would like to do all in one unit as you can on a phone.
How are you using the tablet if it has no internet or wifi while out on water?

I have a 2008 330 sundancer. I'm looking to install a central vac unit. I'm looking for some suggestions as to where to install the unit and where to install the remote inlet. If anyone has a central vac installed from the factory or has installed one on a 330/350 da please advise.

This is the older 330 DA thread. You will probably get a better response in the newer model thread or by creating a new thread.

The tablet has a GPS built in, and that's all Navionics needs. The maps are downloaded through them. If you need internet, you use your cell phone as a hot spot. Most of the boating we do, there is data service available on our phones.

When I did mine I also used two piece screw caps from home depot (nylon cap base and a black cap on each screw) to cover the screws. Brown would look good too. A bit more of a finished look, although the black screws look OK too.

Looking at a 95. But the interior needs updating. Carpet, cushions, backboards, everything. Would probably go with a wood floor. What kind of project am I looking at? How hard? Or how much?

What is a "backboard"? There are some great threads on installing wood floors in these era boats. Apparently Sea Ray was big on staples & glue so prep work will be huge. As far as upholstery goes, that can get pretty expensive, pretty fast.

How much can u do yourself? Is the marine board still good no rot? How is the foam? Still have life?

The upholstered boards around the berth.

The foam still is good. Don't know about the wood, but being inside I would hope it is still good. Not sure I really have the patience to do it myself. But it's probably better than hanging upside down in the bilge doing engine work. :)

Yeah will depend on how crafty you are. Material is one solid color and is just stapled to back if wood base. But having others do it is nice just think in terms of thousands

Ok guys I have a 95 330 with V drives. I'm new to v-drives so if this is a stupid question just entertain me. I do not know what transmissions I have. Can anyone tell me what is the most likely transmission I have. It has merc 454's in it. The reason I ask is I want to know what kind of transmission fluid it will take. I want to take some down when I leave for the lake tomorrow night. Of course all my books on the boat are at the boat.

The reason I ask about the fluid is I noticed the last time down the rpms went up on one engine as far as the tach goes. I didn't notice any change of the sound. So I don't know if the tranny was slipping or the tach is wacky. So thought I would take some fluid down with me and check it.

Also what is the proper fluid checking procedure? Warm? After it's been run? Just want to get this right.

Thanks in advance.

If you noticed no change in sound your tach is wacky. Mine were. There is a dial on the back of the tach. Turn that to clean it up and set it back so the arrow is pointed at the 8cyl label. That might clear it up. As for the transmissions. Plain old DEX III is all that is needed. To check the level turn the T handle to loosen the dipstick and then pull it up. Reverse the process and tighten the T Handle to secure the dipstick in. When you unscrew the handle you should hear a hiss. That is a good sign that the transmission is holding pressure.

To check is this a warm transmission or hot? I really wondered about the tach. But just don't want to burn up a tranny. Figured I better check the fluid and start there. What make of tranny would these likely be?
