Anybody have recommendations for a high quality fitted storage cover? Thanks!

Check out a site called baldmikes. I got a cover for my 270 slx which is perfectly fitted.

Try coverquest.com
I just got a Westland custom cover from them for my 260DA and it fit perfectly.

Just as an FYI - and I'm only mentioning because I really like the way this cover was designed as bimini's/etc do NOT have to be removed - you can get a custom one from Sea Ray (your local dealer) for your boat. A few years ago they started producing these, in addition to the bow/cockpit covers. The boat is secured with a ratchet strap in the hem and nothing else. It can be trailered with, as well, since it fits super tight.

Thanks for all the information guys. LazyDaze- I have a call into my dealer about the Sea Ray cover. Do you know who makes it for Sea Ray- Great Lakes maybe?

It "might" be Great Lakes. I don't recall for sure. You may not be able to get it through Great Lakes, yet, though. Sometimes the boat has to "X" number of years old until they are allowed to retail it. But it would be worth a call, just to double check.

Coverquest has custom fitted covers starting at $609 (8 oz) through $932 (9.5 oz). Sea Ray dealer is quoting $1225 for factory mooring cover. Unless anyone can comment on quality differences I'm leaning to go with Coverquest . . . opinions welcome.

The big advantage of the Sea Ray cover is the ability to be used without taking down bimini poles or arches, and the ratchet strap setup. But if neither of those are important to you, and Coverquest is using quality material, then go with the Coverquest stuff. The Sea Ray cover is a "known" good quality, but if you don't need those extra features, then you're paying for things you don't need.

Post some pics of what you end up buying!

I have the factory cover with mine, and it is really nice. Not sure which model cover mine is, but it is in two pieces and snaps onto the boat. It has cutouts for the wakeboarding tower and a couple of poles to "tent up" the cover so water doesn't stand on it.

I haven't had to use mine much since I have been able to store my boat indoors in my shop. That is changing though because we are moving soon and my boat will be stored outdoors in a lift all the time.

The new Sea Ray cover sounds like ones Four Winns has been offering for a while. You cannot buy direct, but here is the manufacturer.

I looked into this but decided against it. I was quoted $800 to my door. I have a 24' boat and that's almost double what it would cost me to replace the bow/cockpit snap on covers and it really doesn't cover much more gelcoat that those (I have a colored hull down to the water line and that cover stops at the rub rail). A lot of great reviews, but some reports of it loosing the ability to shed water in a few years and 303 having no effect on it - some reported chaffing of the gelcoat where it rubs the hull.

I decided against spending that much money for some benefit and small risk. The snap ons work just fine for me and are much easier to take off/put on by myself.

I ended up getting a Carver fitted mooring/ trailer cover from Coverquest. So far I'm impressed with the price ($590 shipped) and the turnaround time (5 business days). I probably won't put it on for another month or so; my intent is to use it during the winter months only.

I think I have the same factory covers that you do- two pieces snap in with the poles. They are nice pieces but they don't cover the swim deck (I have SeaDek there) or the top deck- which gets DIRTY in the winter (I store it at the marina in dry storage). So I'm hoping this mooring cover will keep it cleaner and with less UV exposure than the factory 2-piece cockpit and bow covers.

I'll post pictures when it goes on.

You may want to try EBay. I got a cheap generic cover for my kids 18' Maxum last year that held up reasonably well for the price, I'm going to get at least one more winter out of it. Not bad for about $150 shipped to me door. I think the company also makes better quality fitted covers to.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I've called two Sea Ray dealers locally, though, and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Any chance you have a part number or a link?

I fell in love with the idea here: http://www.ameritexfabrics.com/defender.html, but sadly they don't make one for my boat, 2006 270 SLX.
