Installed this past weekend. Took a couple of hours with the help of a friend. Looks and feels great! Very happy with this product and upgrade.

Looks great, can you explain the process and supplier...
I ordered the product from AquaMarineDeck.com... fortunately, they already had a pattern for my boat. If they don't have your pattern, they will send you template material and you create it. The material is a synthetic rubber like product made in several different colors. In my case, it's evidently a black and grey laminated material that they CNC route the grey down to the black to make the 2" grooved look.

I had carpet originally, so I removed all of the snaps and filled the holes with 5200 (most of which will get covered by the new flooring). I then cleaned the non-skid surfaces (one section at a time) with acetone and peeled and stick the flooring down. It's good to have help in order to keep the bigger pieces in place as you peel and stick. I then went over the completed flooring with a roller (you can see it on the seat in the fourth picture).

Hi JimG,

Congrats! The Aqua Marine Deck looks great. I got the same last summer. Since they are local, mine was actually installed by the factory. Thomas (owner) is great to work with.

Oh yeah, I know, if there aren't pics then it didn't happen so here ya go.

Both of those boats look great with that installed. What a nice upgrade. Soft on the feet, probably pretty cool to walk on and non-slip.

Nicely done, both of you. Thanks for sharing.

Your's looks great also... beautiful boat (and I like your choice in beer)!

Have been looking at something like this for a while now but wondering a couple of things. How easy is it to clean? I did some work in the bilge this spring and i was glad my carpet wasn't down because the deck was a mess. Also, how is the deck if you or the next owner decides to remove it?

My dock mate has had this product in a lighter grey (you can see his boat next to mine in the 3rd picture) for 2 months now and it seems to clean up great. Occasionally he will have to clean a spot up with Dawn but otherwise he just hoses it down. When I do my winterization this fall I will put some old sheets or rugs down to protect it.

As far as removing down the road at some point... I don't know. I would assume it could be peeled up and the gel coat restored.

JimG,

Thanks for the comments.

Irie308,

My diesel engines are mechanical so a bit sloppier than newer electronic engines therefore I get a bit of soot. For this and the occasional spill, I clean as needed with Simple Green and a stiff deck brush.

When planning on doing bilge work, I'll occasionally grab a few scrap pieces of cardboard from the office.

This product will scuff or damage but so will teak. Although this is cheaper and easier to replace the occasional panel. When removing, my understanding is the adhesive partially comes up with the panel but Acetone for the rest. Probably not fun but doable.

Both boats look amazing!! I'm sold, and waiting for a call back from Aqua Marine Deck. I sure hope they have a pattern for my 400 EC.

Wow. So beautiful. How do you keep your gel coat and cockpit so shiny!
