It's About Time! Upgrading to a 410!

Hi all! I've been lurking around here for some time. We currently have a 240 Sundancer 2000 (for sale at Sea DA Yachts in VA Beach if you're shopping). We are getting ready to have a survey done on a 410 Sundancer, 2001. This will be our 4th boat. We started with a 95 Chris Craft cuddy cabin when our kids were babies. Took some time off (10 years!) and last year bought a Bayliner open bow to make sure the kids were going to enjoy it. We found a fun marina in White Stone VA on the Rap. After last season, we decided we wanted to sleep on the boat so in May 2017 we bought a 240 Sundancer and moved marinas to VA Beach (13 year old and 10 year old wanted the beach, shopping and fun). One night on the 240 was enough for us to decide we were going to need a bigger boat!! Excited to hopefully (fingers crossed) get a good survey back on the 410. Hoping to get it scheduled this week. I didn't realize how long the process takes! i was hoping to be on her this weekend, but at this rate it will probably be another week. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Looking forward to reading your stories

I will be sure to check out that thread too! Yes absolutely great boat. She was well maintained for sure. My husband is a bit nervous about parking it in the slip ...he's going to have to learn to maneuver 2 engines and a bow thruster! Although I hear 2 engines are easier than 1...

Sending good juju for a great survey!!

Twin engines on a 410 will be much easier to dock than the 240 with a single engine once you learn. Biggest difference is you maneuver with the shifters as opposed to the steering wheel.

It sounds like your very excited about getting the new boat - just make sure to let the survey on the boat and the engines guide you rather than your excitement. Don't skip the engine survey on the diesels. Even boats that looks great on the surface sometime have issues. Some can be addressed or negotiated some can not and you need to walk.

Best of luck with the surveys and if all goes well don't forget to post the pictures.

All I can say is congrats!

Don't fear the twins. I had a single engine for a good long time. Then I bought my 300 and was scared to death of running her up on a finger pier. I've never hit a thing and I still practice

Congratulations! The 410 thread is a wealth of Q&A on your new boat. Just post up your questions!

Just take your time and let the boat talk to you and follow it's lead!

You might want to spend a day with a professional captain to get comfortable with her intially, I did when we moved up to our 330 and it was a great help.

Enjoy she is a great model, I'm biased, the diesels will give you a great range for cruising.

That's the plan! We have a few other ideas: Andiamo (we are both Italian), Salty Toes (our two kids)..
